  1. 1. Mechanisms of Blister Formation on Concrete Bridge Decks with Waterprooving Asphalt Pavement Systems

    Författare :Biruk Wobeshet Hailesilassie; Björn Birgisson; Lars-Olof Nilsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; blister growth; PBM waterproofing membrane; orthotropic material; biaxial test; peeling test; elliptical blister growth;

    Sammanfattning : Bridge decks are commonly subjected to harsh environmental conditions that often lead to serious corrosion problems triggered by blisters under the hot mix asphalt bridge deck surfacing and secretly evolving during weather exposure until damage is often detected too late. Blisters may form under both the waterproofing dense mastic asphalt layer or under the waterproofing membrane which is often applied as additional water protection under the mastic asphalt (MA). 2. 2. Elastoplasticity of Grey Cast Iron FE-Algorithms and Biaxial Experiments

    Författare :Hans E. Hjelm; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biaxial experiments; multiaxial elastoplastic behaviour; graphite flakes; FE-codes; hardening behaviour; graphitic grey cast iron;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on multiaxial elastoplastic behaviour of graphitic grey cast iron with the aim to provide physically appropriate and numerically reliable constitutive relations for use in FE-codes. To achieve this goal, this work is divided into three parts: Biaxial experiments are performed on thin cruciform specimens. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modeling and experimental characterization of pearlitic rail steels subjected to large biaxial strains

    Författare :Knut Andreas Meyer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hyperelasto-plasticity; axial-torsion; kinematic hardening; biaxial loading; Pearlitic steel;

    Sammanfattning : Large shear strains develop in the near-surface region under the running band of railway rails. Rolling Contact Fatigue (RCF) cracks often initiate in this region, causing major problems for the railway industry. However, characterization of the constitutive and fatigue behavior of this region is difficult due to the large gradient of properties. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Modeling and experimental characterization of large biaxial strains and induced anisotropy in pearlitic rail steel

    Författare :Knut Andreas Meyer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pearlitic steel; yield criteria; distortional hardening; axial-torsion; kinematic hardening; biaxial loading; hyperelasto-plasticity;

    Sammanfattning : Large shear strains accumulate in the near-surface region under the running band of railway rails. In this region, rolling contact fatigue cracks often initiate, causing major problems for the railway industry. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Experimental characterization and numerical modeling of compression perpendicular to the grain in wood and cross-laminated timber

    Författare :Shaheda T. Akter; Thomas K. Bader; Erik Serrano; Jan Oscarsson; Reinhard Brandner; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; rolling shear; biaxial testing; stress combination; RT-plane; moisture influence; rolling shear creep; digital image correlation; strain field; CLT connection; rotational stiffness; rullskjuvning; biaxiell undersökning; spänningskombination; RT-plan; fuktpåverkan; krypning vid rullskjuving; digital bildkorrelation; töjningsfält; KLTanslutning; rotationsstyvhet; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Compression perpendicular to the grain (CPG) of wood is a typical loading situation in timber structures. It has been an extensively studied research topic for decades, due to the highly ductile behavior of wood under such loading, the large variations in mechanical properties, and the relevance of these properties in structural design.
