  1. 16. Activating proto-oncogene mutations in human cutaneous melanoma

    Författare :Katarina Omholt; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cutaneous melanoma arises from melanocytes located in the basal layer of the epidermis. The disease is known to progress through well-defined steps: 1) common nevus; 2) dysplastic nevus; 3) radial growth phase (RGP) primary melanoma; 4) vertical growth phase (VGP) primary melanoma; and 5) metastatic melanoma. 2. 17. Proteomic analysis of DNA damage induced stress signaling with focus on p53 : S100A6 regulation, function and potential as biomarker in lung cancer and as a novel therapeutic target

    Författare :Lukas Orre; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis powerful proteomics methods were used to reveal novel proteins involved in the cellular response to DNA damaging treatment. The goal was to find proteins with potential as biomarkers for prediction of cancer prognosis and response to cancer therapy, but also to find potential novel targets of cancer therapy. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Functional genomics at the interface of protein expression and biophysical analysis

    Författare :Xiaoqiu Wu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Protein characterization is central to any functional genomics effort, hence protein expression and purification play fundamental roles in these initiatives. In this study strategies for protein expression in E. coli were analysed, and several parameters were investigated respect to high-level expression of functional proteins. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Wnt signaling in early brain development and disease

    Författare :Panagiotis Papachristou; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Wnt/Planar Cell Polarity (PCP) signaling is involved in many cellular processes throughout the development of the embryo. These include control of proliferation, differentiation, migration and cell fate decisions. Deregulation of Wnt/PCP signaling can lead to many developmental abnormalities and cancer. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Gene regulation mechanisms by the transcriptional coregulator mastermind-like 1

    Författare :Mariana Saint Just Ribeiro; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Acetylation autoacetylation; chromatin; trnascription; coregulator; Mastermind-like 1 MAML1 ; p300; Notch signaling; phosphorylation; GSK3beta;

    Sammanfattning : MAML1 was first identified as a coactivator for Notch receptors, but later it was also found to function as a coactivator for several other activators, including p53, beta-catenin, and MEF2C. MAML1 is critical for Notch signalling and has been shown to act cooperatively with the histone acetyltransferase (HAT) p300 in transcription that is mediated by the Notch intracellular domain (Notch IC).
