1. Novel bioinspired and biohybrid electrode materials for hydrogen production
Sammanfattning : This thesis was accomplished under the scope of eSCALED project administrated by EU MSCA horizon 2020 program, which aimed to develop a device called “artificial leaf” responsible for generating fuels or liquid chemicals (H2 production or CO2 reduction) using solar electrolysis. My objective was to develop a noble metal free, efficient cathode materials for H2 production for the device which yield this thesis. LÄS MER
2. Affinity biosensors based on a capacitive transducer
Sammanfattning : Capacitive biosensors were developed for several analytes such as hormones, interleukines, viruses and heavy metal ions. The sensing surfaces were prepared by immobilizing the biorecognition element to self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold. SAMs form spontaneously on gold by adsorption of thiols, sulfides or disulfides. LÄS MER
3. Synthesis of Novel Inhibitors of IdeS, a Bacterial Cysteine Protease Including Studies of Stereoselective Reductive Aminations
Sammanfattning : Abstract The cysteine protease IdeS is an IgG degrading enzyme secreted by the bacterium Streptococcus pyogenes to evade the human immune system. In this thesis several inhibitors of IdeS have been synthesized and evaluated. Such inhibitors should be highly useful when elucidating the detailed mechanism of IdeS action. LÄS MER
4. An Organic Electrochemical Transistor for Printed Sensors and Logic
Sammanfattning : Conducting polymers entered the research field in late 70´s and efforts aimed at achieving printed electronics started a decade later. This thesis treats printable organic electrochemical transistors (OECT). Some conjugated polymers can be switched between a high conducting and a low conducting state in an electrochemical cell. 5. Ionic and electronic transport in electrochemical and polymer based systems
Sammanfattning : Electrochemical systems, which rely on coupled phenomena of the chemical change and electricity, have been utilized for development an interface between biological systems and conventional electronics. The development and detailed understanding of the operation mechanism of such interfaces have a great importance to many fields within life science and conventional electronics. LÄS MER
