2. Closing the Loop by Combining UASB Reactor and Reactive Bed Filetr Technology for wastewater Treatment : Modelling and Practical Approaches
Sammanfattning : A laboratory-scale upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor followed by a packed bed reactor (PBR) filled with Sorbulite® in the lower part and Polonite® in the upper part was used to treat household wastewater in a 50-week experiment. A model was developed to describe the performance of the UASB reactor, including mass transfer through the film around anaerobic granules, intra-particle diffusion and bioconversion of the substrate. 3. Bench-Scale Production of Heterologous Proteins from Extremophiles- Escherichia coli and Pichia pastoris based expression systems
Sammanfattning : Over the past few years considerable research attention has been assigned to extremophiles as sources of extremozymes due to their applicability in industrial processes, and the development of eco-friendly technologies. The establishment of efficient production strategies for heterologous proteins is an empirical process requiring broad background knowledge on available expression systems together with their major advantages and shortcomings. 4. Fire behaviour of selected polymeric materials : Numerical modelling and validation using microscale and bench scale test methods
Sammanfattning : The ability to predict fire behaviour of materials is of key interest to building materials industry. Themain reason for it is expensive fire testing and certification costs borne by the manufacturers to bring a finished product to market. LÄS MER
5. Chemical-Looping Combustion with Liquid Fuel
Sammanfattning : Chemical-looping combustion (CLC) is a promising technology for future energy conversion on the basis of combustion of fossil fuels with inherent CO2 separation. In comparison to other carbon-capture technologies there is no need for energy demanding gas separation in order to obtain pure CO2. LÄS MER
