  1. 1. Defining and applying surrogate safety measures and behavioural indicators through site-based observations

    Författare :Tim de Ceunynck; Trafik och väg; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Surrogate safety measures; behavioural indicators; traffic safety; site-based observations; traffic conflicts; traffic conflict techniques; road user interactions;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation looks into surrogate safety measures and behavioural indicators that are collected through site-based observations. Surrogate safety measures are defined as measurements that are used to describe the relationship between two road users in a traffic event for the purpose of quantifying the crash probability and/or the potential crash severity in a meaningful way. 2. 2. The match between horse and rider

    Författare :Malin Axel-Nilsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : A successful relationship between horse and rider is a partnership based on compatibility and is often referred to as a good match. In the present thesis, ‘match’ includes the good interaction, interplay and cooperation between horse and rider as well as the related positive experience. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Investigating anticipatory behaviours in lambs

    Författare :Claes Anderson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Many animals kept by humans receive cues that predict future events for example food or being let out. The interval between cue and future event may however be delayed. In the best of worlds, animals may not experience such waiting as negative and it is even suggested that the anticipation following such cues is experienced as pleasurable. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Indicators for traffic safety assessment and prediction and their application in micro-simulation modelling : a study of urban and suburban intersections

    Författare :Jeffery Archer; Karl-Lennart Bång; Oliver Carsten; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Social sciences; Traffic safety; proximal safety indicators; micro-simulation; safety analysis; Samhällsvetenskap; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : In order to achieve sustainable long-term transport infrastructure development, there is a growing need for fast, reliable and effective methods to evaluate and predict the impact of traffic safety measures. Recognising this need, and the need for an active traffic safety approach, this thesis focuses on traffic safety assessment and prediction based on the use of safety indicators that measure the spatial and/or temporal proximity of safety critical events. 5. 5. Air pollution and health – Indicators, trends and impacts

    Författare :Henrik Olstrup; Christer Johansson; Christina Ruden; Bertil Forsberg; Alain Le Tertre; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; air pollution; health; measurements; trends; impacts; mortality; NOx; elemental carbon; AQHI; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on some of the limitations and difficulties that exist when it comes to quantifying the human health effects that arise as a result of air pollution exposure. The following four issues are particularly analysed and discussed: 1) The measurement techniques used for carbonaceous particles and their lack of consistency; 2) Do the health risks associated with exposure to PM10 depend on the content of elemental carbon in the aerosol?; 3) Trends in air pollutants and the health effects that arise as a result of changed exposure to the measured pollutants; 4) The associations between the measured concentrations of different air pollutants in Stockholm and the daily number deaths; 5) Air quality indicators and health outcomes as basis for an air quality health index (AQHI).
