1. Nutrient imbalance in Norway spruce
Sammanfattning : The studies presented in my thesis indicate that growing Norway spruce in monoculture does not constitute sustainable forest management in a high N and S deposition environment, such as in southern Sweden. The combination of N-induced high growth rates and leaching due to soil acidification causes soil reserves of nutrients to decrease. LÄS MER
2. GaN HEMT Low Noise Amplifiers for Radio Base Station Receivers
Sammanfattning : Gallium nitride (GaN) high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) has been introduced as the technology of choice for high power microwave applications due to its material properties including high saturation electron velocity and breakdown field together with excellent thermal conductivity and robustness. It is also a promising candidate for receiver front-ends in the radio base station(RBS) where low noise figure and high linearity are key issues for low noiseamplifier (LNA) design. 3. Air gap formation and hot tearing in solidification processing of Al- and Cu-base alloys
Sammanfattning : Shrinkage in a solidifying metal has been studiedexperimentally as well as theoretically. The main focus hasbeen to examine the mechanisms causing an air gap to formbetween a casting and a mould, and hot crack formation to occurin a solidifying metal. LÄS MER
4. GaAs based Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Transistor-Lasers
Sammanfattning : The ever-increasing demand for broadband capacity of the global optical communication networks puts enormous requirements on the semiconductor laser used in the optical transmitter. Industrial standard bodies for optical communication project requirements of single-channel data rates as high as 100 Gbit/s around year 2020. LÄS MER
5. Mixed-Grained Till in Pavement Structures; A Field and Laboratory Study
Sammanfattning : The road network in Sweden has historically been constructed using rock fill and natural gravel. More than 75 per cent of the land surface of Sweden is covered by glacial till and greater utilization of site-won material will not only reduce transportation costs but will also promote better sustainability of natural assets.
