  1. 1. Benefits of Pharmacometric Model-Based Design and Analysis of Clinical Trials

    Författare :Kristin E Karlsson; E Niclas Jonsson; Mats O Karlsson; Anders Grahnén; Michael K Smith; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; model-based analysis; pharmacometrics; modeling; disease progression; NONMEM; SAEM; Importance sampling; repeated time-to-event; RTTCE; RCEpT; NIH stroke scale; Barthel index; internal validation; external validation; study power; study design; PHARMACY; FARMACI; Pharmacokinetics and Drug Therapy; Farmakokinetik och läkemedelsterapi;

    Sammanfattning : Quantitative pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic and disease progression models are the core of the science of pharmacometrics which has been identified as one of the strategies that can make drug development more effective. To adequately develop and utilize these models one needs to carefully consider the nature of the data, choice of appropriate estimation methods, model evaluation strategies, and, most importantly, the intended use of the model. 2. 2. Sleep apnea and sleep : diagnostic aspects

    Författare :Carin Sahlin; Karl Franklin; Eva Lindberg; Eva Svanborg; Åke Tegelberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Sleep apnea; sleep stages; snoring; stroke; polysomnography; Cheyne-Stokes respiration; supine-dependency; Cardiovascular medicine; Kardiovaskulär medicin; Lung diseases; Lungsjukdomar; lungmedicin; Lung Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Patients with sleep apnea have frequent apneas and hypopneas during sleep. Apneas can be either central or obstructive. The apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) is the mean number of apneas and hypopneas per hour of sleep. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Life after stroke Outcome and views of patients and carers

    Författare :Ann-Cathrin Jönsson; Lund Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; weight loss; shoulder pain; health related quality of life; stroke; outcome; pain;

    Sammanfattning : The aims were to follow stroke patients over time with respect to general pain, shoulder pain, weight loss, and health related quality of life (HRQOL), the latter also in stroke survivors' informal caregivers. Methods During a 1 year period, 416 first-ever stroke patients were included in the population based Lund Stroke Register; 327 survivors were followed up after four months and 305 one year later. 4. 4. Blood pressure in very old age : determinants, adverse outcomes, and heterogeneity

    Författare :Bodil Weidung; Yngve Gustafson; Håkan Littbrand; Bo Carlberg; Peter Nordström; Sölve Elmståhl; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Blood pressure; aged 80 and over; hypertension; hypotension; mortality; stroke; gait speed; cognition disorders; dementia; cohort study;

    Sammanfattning : Background: High blood pressure (BP) is the leading risk factor for disease and mortality worldwide. However, risks associated with high BP in very old age (≥ 80 or ≥ 85 years) are not entirely understood, as the majority of scientific studies have been performed with younger populations and existing scientific knowledge about very old individuals is sometimes contradictory. 5. 5. Stroke in geriatric patients - Aspects of depression, cognition and motor activity

    Författare :Berit Agrell; Geriatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; stroke; laterality; rating scales; motoractivity; aphasia; neglect; disability; depression; cognition; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Six depression rating scales, GDS, Zung, CES-D, CPRS-D and Cornell, were compared in 40 patients. The validity was good for all scales except for the Cornell scale. A comprehensive investigation was done in 116 elderly stroke patients. There was no difference in prevalence and severity of post-stroke depression in relation to side of lesion. LÄS MER
