The first aim of the investigation is to describe the existential meaningful content of views of life in perceptions of gene technology and in narratives about childlessness, assisted conception and adoption, as they are articulated in two separate sets of interviews. The aim is two-fold: First, how adoption is presented by adopted adults; second, how adoption is constructed in the press.     Sammanfattning : Background: In the nineties, the patients with inguinal hernias were exposed to several newly developed repair techniques using alloplastic mesh prosthesis. Although the scientific knowledge was limited, the new techniques were rapidly introduced due to surgical enthusiasm, but also by an eagerness to reduce the recurrence rate and to shorten the time to recovery.
