11. Simulations of the Dynamics of Fibre Suspension Flows
Sammanfattning : A new model for simulating non-Brownian flexible fibres suspended in a Newtonian fluid has been developed. Special attention has been given to include realistic flow conditions found in the industrial papermaking process in the key features of the model; it is the intention of the author to employ the model in simulations of the forming section of the paper machine in future studies. 12. Quadrature rules for boundary integral methods applied to Stokes flow
Sammanfattning : Fluid phenomena dominated by viscous effects can, in many cases, be modeled by the Stokes equations. The boundary integral form of the Stokes equations reduces the number of degrees of freedom in a numerical discretization by reformulating the threedimensional problem to two-dimensional integral equations to be discretized over the boundaries of the domain. 13. Phosphoinositides control insulin secretion through multiple routes
Sammanfattning : Glucose-stimulated insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells is the sequence of events that starts with glucose uptake and ends with the fusion of insulin granules with the plasma membrane through Ca2+-triggered exocytosis. Phosphoinositides are minor components of all cellular membranes, yet play fundamental roles as regulators of many cellular processes. LÄS MER
14. Varför tiger du? : Expositionen i sju enaktare av August Strindberg
Sammanfattning : This is a study of how expository information is presented in the metatext (title, subtitle, prefaces, dedications, the dramatis personae, announcements of act and scene, stage directions etc.) and the dialogue in seven one-act plays by August Strindberg: The Stronger (1889), Pariah (1889), Simoom (1889), Debit and Credit (1892), The First Warning (1892), Facing Death (1892), and Motherly Love (1892). 15. Improving trace metal characterisation of ore deposits – a crucial step towards sustainable mining
Sammanfattning : Sustainable mining, including the utilisation of an ore body to its full potential, is becoming increasingly important for human society as the demand for metals increases. In order to maximise the recovery of useful metals, detailed characterisation of the ore prior to processing is vital. LÄS MER
