  1. 11. Water and Carbon Balance Modeling: Methods of Uncertainty Analysis

    Författare :John Juston; Per-Erik Jansson; Georg Lindgren; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Modeling; uncertainty analysis; water balance; carbon balance; GLUE; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : How do additional data of the same and/or different type contribute to reducing model parameter and predictive uncertainties? This was the question addressed with two models – the HBV hydrological water balance model and the ICBM soil carbon balance model – that were used to investigate the usefulness of the Generalized Likelihood Uncertainty Estimation (GLUE) method for calibrations and uncertainty analyses.  The GLUE method is based on threshold screening of Monte Carlo simulations using so-called informal likelihood measures and subjective acceptance criterion. 2. 12. Impaired balance and fall risk in people with multiple sclerosis

    Författare :Anna Carling; Ylva Nilsagård; Anette Forsberg; Sverker Johansson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Balance; exercise; falls; falls efficacy; gait; multiple sclerosis; next of kin; physiotherapy; qualitative research; randomized controlled trial;

    Sammanfattning : The symptoms from the neurological disease multiple sclerosis vary from person to person and over time. Impaired balance is common in people with multiple sclerosis and can lead to falls. Fall frequency is high in people with multiple sclerosis, above 50%. Multiple sclerosis affects not only the person having the disease but also their next of kin. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Studies in Glacier Mass Balance : Measurement and its errors

    Författare :Andrew Mercer; Peter Jansson; Gunhild Rosqvist; Ian Brown; Jonathan Carrivick; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Glaciology; Mass Balance; Measurement Errors; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : The study of the surface mass balance of valley glaciers has a long history but one that is dogged by uncertainty and errors, and uncertainty about those errors. These problems are acknowledged by the glaciological community and have been examined and formalised in several publications. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Beyond the badge : police officers’ lifestyles and health

    Författare :Elin Granholm Valmari; Kajsa Gilenstam; Ulla Nygren; Mehdi Ghazinour; Anders Kottorp; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Frontline police officers; Instrument development; Life balance; Life contexts; Mental health; Occupational balance; Occupational patterns; Physical health; Role balance; Social health; poliser i yttre tjänst; instrument utveckling; livsbalans; livskontexter; psykisk hälsa; aktivitetsbalans; aktivitetsmönster; fysisk hälsa; rollbalans; social hälsa; Occupational therapy; arbetsterapi; police science; polisforskning; sustainability; hållbarhet;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Being a frontline police officer is regarded to be one of the most high-strain professions in the world, encompassing physical, emotional and cognitive stressors. These stressors may cause ill health, physically, mentally and socially, impacting both professional and private life roles and everyday activities. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Walking ability, balance and accidental falls in persons with Multiple Sclerosis

    Författare :Ylva Nilsagård; Lars-Gunnar Gunnarsson; Eva Denison; Katrin Boström; Christina H. Opava; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :multiple sclerosis; cooling garment; gait; walking; balance; reliability; validity; accidental falls; prediction; ICF; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : By using a pragmatic paradigm, different research methodologies were employed in this thesis. MS-related symptoms may be exaggerated due to heatsensitivity and it is supposed that cooling garments relieve the symptoms. LÄS MER
