1. Postural balance, physical activity and capacity among young people with intellectual disability
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate postural balance, physical activity, physical capacity and their associations in young people (16-20 years) with intellectual disability (ID), mild to moderate. The aim was also to study the reliability and concurrent validity of postural balance tests. LÄS MER
2. Sensorimotor characteristics in chronic neck pain : possible pathophysiological mechanisms and implications for rehabilitation
Sammanfattning : Pain from the musculoskeletal system is very common in the modern society. Chronic musculoskeletal pain syndromes causes not only individual suffering but also dysfunctions of movements and postural control, as large costs for the society. LÄS MER
3. Motion Analysis and Postural Stability of Transtibial Prosthesis Users
Sammanfattning : The AIMS of the thesis were to critically evaluate motion analysis methods used during investigations of transtibial prosthesis users, and to propose improvements to these methods. Additionally, the aim was to evaluate if vibratory feedback could be used to improve postural stability in transtibial prosthesis users and how being a prosthesis user influenced muscular response to postural perturbations. 4. Late effects on hearing and balance after treatment for childhood cancer
Sammanfattning : During the last several decades, improvements in diagnostic skills and in the treatment of children with cancer have substantially increased the number of long term survivors of childhood cancer. Treatment of children with cytostatic drugs is known to create a range of late adverse effects. LÄS MER
5. Asymmetric lateral loading of the human trunk
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to characterize the biomechanics and neuromuscular control of the human trunk in response to asymmetric lateral loading. The pulling force and strength capacities as well as muscle activation patterns, trunk kinematics and postural balance in relation to lateral trunk flexion and loading were given special consideration.
