  1. 1. HYDROPHOBIC PEPTIDE TAGS - As tools in bioseparation and investigation of recombinant proteins

    Författare :Sara Fexby; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; E. coli; Biochemical technology; Biokemisk teknik; fusion protein; tyrosine; hydrophobicity; Hydrophobic interaction chromatography; aqueous two-phase system;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the possibility of using hydrophobic peptide tags as tools for bioseparation and for the investigation of recombinant proteins. The hydrophobicity of a protein can easily be changed by minor modifications, such as fusions of tyrosine-containing peptides. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Characterisation of Food Associated Bacteria by DNA based Methods, with Special Reference to Enterobacteriaceae

    Författare :Crister Olsson; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; 16S rRNA; TTGE; ribotyping; Rahnella; Klebsiella; HPI; Enterobacteriaceae; food; Livsmedelsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The presence of genes in food, encoding some virulence factors, was studied by PCR, and species of Enterobacteriaceae, associated with food, were studied by the DNA-based methods of TTGE, ribotyping and sequencing. The flora of fresh and chill-stored pork were analysed by a culture-independent approach, using specific amplification of 16S rRNA genes followed by cloning and sequencing. LÄS MER

  3. 3. On the induction and function of Foxp3+ regulatory T cells

    Författare :Cecilia Oderup; Diabetes - immunovirologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunologi; serologi; transplantation; regulatory T cell; serology; Immunology; superantigen; costimulation; dendritic cell; Foxp3;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on three original papers with the overall aim to study the mechanisms of induction and function of Foxp3+CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells. Regulatory T cells induce down-modulation of costimulatory molecules CD80 and CD86 on dendritic cells in vitro. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Interactions between extracellular matrix proteins and the complement system - In the perspective of cartilage degradation in inflammatory joint diseases

    Författare :Camilla Melin Fürst; Malmö Proteinkemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Complement system; rheumatoid arthritis; osteoarthritis; extracellular matrix; cartilage degradation; mass spectrometry;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract: The joint diseases osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are characterized by destructive inflammatory processes that result in pathological changes of the joint tissues, including proteolytic degradation of cartilage and release of extracellular matrix proteins or fragments to the synovial fluid. The complement system, which is a part of the innate immune system, plays a central role in promoting the joint inflammation in these diseases. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pharyngotonsillitis in primary health care. Aetiology and clinical findings

    Författare :Jon Pallon; Allmänmedicin och samhällsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharyngotonsillitis; Streptococcus pyogenes; Primary Health Care; Fusobacterium necrophorum;

    Sammanfattning : Pharyngotonsillitis, or acute sore throat, is a common reason for attending primary health care and a common reason for antibiotic prescription. Group A Streptococcus (GAS) has long been considered the most important pathogen in pharyngotonsillitis, but a wide array of other bacteria and viruses have also been associated with this condition.
