  1. 21. Endonuclease II - a GIY-YIG enzyme of bacteriophage T4

    Författare :Pernilla Lagerbäck; Karin Carlson; Elisabeth Raleigh; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; GIY-YIG; EndoII; endonuclease; structure; tetramer; binding; nicking; recombination; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Endonuclease II (EndoII) of bacteriophage T4 is a GIY-YIG enzyme involved in host DNA breakdown during phage infection of E. coli. EndoII combines features of restriction endonucleases with those of homing endonucleases in that it breaks down DNA foreign to itself but recognizes a 16 bp long asymmetric and ambiguous sequence. 2. 22. Groove-binding Unsymmetrical Cyanine Dyes for DNA Applications

    Författare :Maja Eriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polarized spectroscopy; bacteriophage T5; cryo-transmission electron microscopy; dynamic light scattering; DNA; intercalation; cyanine dyes; groove-binding; fluorescence spectroscopy; gel electrophoresis;

    Sammanfattning : This work focuses on interactions between DNA and a group of newly developed unsymmetrical cyanine dyes. The aim of the work was to discover fluorescent dyes that can be used in biophysical studies of natural DNA where minimum perturbation of the DNA-helix is essential, where a slow dissociation rate of the dyes is needed and where the ionic strength is an important parameter. 3. 23. Scattering Studies of Macromolecules in Solution

    Författare :David Löf; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bacteriophage lambda; Dynamic Light Scattering; Time-Resolved; Mixed Micelles; Nonionic Surfactant; Triblock Copolymer; Calorimetry; SLS; Rheology; DLS; SAXS;

    Sammanfattning : The sphere-to-rod transition of nonionic micelles of the PEO-PPO-PEO triblock copolymer P123 and the surfactant C12EO6 was studied using dynamic and static light scattering, small angel X-ray scattering, rheology and calorimetry. The transition temperature was dependent of the C12EO6/P123 molar ratio, which means that a larger content of C12EO6 yields a higher transition temperature. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Infection kinetics, phylogenetics, and host interactions of bacteriophages

    Författare :Shazeeda Koonjan; Anders S. Nilsson; Lone Brøndsted; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bacteriophage biology; infection kinetics; phylogenetics; host interactions; phage therapy; phage ecology and evolution; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Bacteriophages, or as they are most commonly referred to as phages, are viruses which are capable of infecting bacteria. They are environmentally plenty, found everywhere from the ground we walk on to contributing to our microbiome. They are highly diverse, coming in various sizes, shapes, and genomic compositions. 5. 25. Structure and function studies on nrdB group I intron from bacteriophage T4

    Författare :Ann-Sofie Sjögren; Gerhart Wagner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology; molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The nrdB gene of bacteriophage T4 contains a group I intron which is autocatalytic in water solutions containing salts. The group I intron self-splicing reaction consists of two consecutive transesterfication steps. The first step is the attack of an external guanosine on phosphor at the 5'-splice site. LÄS MER
