  1. 1. Bacterial Vaginosis : Diagnosis, Prevalence, and Treatment

    Författare :Katarina Eriksson; Per-Göran Larsson; Urban Forsum; Ann-Sofie Adolfsson; Inger Mattsby-Baltzer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Bacterial vaginosis; prevalence; diagnosis; PAP-smear; probiotic treatment; clindamycin; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is a disorder of unknown etiology, characterized by a foul smelling vaginal discharge, loss or reduction of the normal vaginal Lactobacilli, and overgrowth of other anaerobic bacteria. Thus, it presents a formidable problem for clinicians as well as microbiologists researching its etiology, clinical course, treatment, and epidemiology. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Bacterial vaginosis : Diagnosis, treatment and significance in gynaecological practice

    Författare :Per-Göran Larsson; Bengt Fredricsson; Östergötlands Läns Landsting; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a syndrome which is characterized of a disagreeable vaginal discharge but not necessarily an increase in discharge and is present in nearly 20-30% of women attending gynaecological out-patient clinics. Some women have BV unknowingly but others suffer the disagreeable discharge as a lifelong nuisance and areconstantly visiting physicians without relief. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Amines and Bacterial Vaginosis

    Författare :Helen Wolrath; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Bacterial Vaginosis (BY) is a common syndrome, with a prevalence of 10-30% in women of childbearing age. The decisive pathogenetic factoris thought to have a microbiological origin, but so far no specific bacteria have been implicated in causing BV. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The female genital tract microbiota: composition, relation to innate immune factors, and effects of contraceptives

    Författare :Natalia Nikolaitchouk; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :bacterial vaginosis; checkerboard DNA-DNA hybridisation; cytokines; SLPI; Lactobacillus coleohominis; Lactobacillus iners; Actinomyces urogenitalis;

    Sammanfattning : Abnormal vaginal microbiota, as in bacterial vaginosis (BV), is associated with increased risk of obstetrical and gynaecologic complications and acquisition of sexually transmitted diseases. However, very little is known about the pathogenesis of BV. In BV, the normal vaginal Lactobacillus-dominated biota (LDB) is replaced by anaerobic bacteria. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Vaginal commensal bacteria. Interactions with cervix epithelial and monocytic cells and influence on cytokines and secretory leukocyte protease inhibitor, SLPI

    Författare :Louise Strömbeck; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Prevotella bivia; bacterial vaginosis BV ; invasion; Lactobacillus; secretory leukocyte protease inhibitor SLPI ; cytokines; THP-1; HeLa cells;

    Sammanfattning : Vaginal commensal bacteria Interactions with cervix epithelial and monocytic cells and influence on cytokines and secretory leukocyte protease inhibitor, SLPI Louise Strömbeck Department of Infectious Medicine, Gothenburg University Abstract Lactobacillus is the predominant species of the vaginal microbiota in women of childbearing age. Lactobacilli are thought to contribute to the local immune defence by producing a variety of antimicrobial substances and, thereby, attenuate growth of other opportunistic bacteria. LÄS MER
