16. Quantum Chemical Calculations on ESR, Core Excitations, and Isotope Effects in Molecular Systems
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, quantum chemical calculations are undertaken mostly in order to interpret experimental results, but also to learn about computational techniques, their performance and their limitations. In paper I, the ionization-cleavage process of alkenes is investigated and two pathways are followed, one of initial cleavage and subsequent ionization and on the opposite, the other one of initial ionization and subsequent cleavage. 17. Novel Pincer Complex-Catalyzed Transformations : Including Asymmetric Catalysis
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on the development of new pincer complex-catalyzed transformations. Optimization of the catalytic properties (fine-tuning) was directed to increase the catalytic activity as well as the chemo-, stereo- and enantioselectivity of the complexes. LÄS MER
18. Syntheses of functionalized Phe-Gly dipeptidomimetics
Sammanfattning : The complete series of Boc-protected C-4 mono- and difluoroallyl Phe-Gly dipeptidomimetics and their corresponding saturated derivatives has been synthesized. A mechanism that rationalizes the formation of the two isomeric allylic mono-fluorides from an allylic alcohol with diethylaminosulfur trifluoride (DAST) has been investigated. LÄS MER
19. Development of new Catalytic Methods for the Selective Synthesis of Heterocycles
Sammanfattning : In the field of organic chemistry, the development of new catalytic methods for the synthesis of complex molecules from simple precursors is a top priority. The main focus of this thesis concerns the diastereoselective synthesis of heterocyclic compounds using main group elements as Lewis acid catalysts. LÄS MER
20. Synthesis of Indole Alkaloids and Development of New Methodology
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes our efforts towards the total synthesis of natural products and the development of a newmethodology to afford a synthetically important scaffold.Chapter 2 outlines our efforts towards the total synthesis of a marine natural product, perophoramidine as wellas our completed synthesis of dehaloperophoramidine.
