  1. 16. Noninvasive assessment of cerebral circulation before, during and after carotid surgery

    Författare :Helene Zachrisson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Internal carotid artery disease; cerebrovascular hemodynamics; Carotid thrombendarterectomy; Duplex ultrasound; transcranial Doppler; Internal carotid artery disease;

    Sammanfattning : Non-invasive ultrasound investigations were evaluated in patients with carotid artery stenosis in comparison with radiological disease gradations and perioperative blood pressure measurements. The aim was to assess cerebrovascular hemodynamics before, during and after carotid thrombendarterectomy (CEA) in relation to the clinical outcome of the surgical intervention. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Haustoria regulation in the facultative parasitic plant Phtheirospermum japonicum

    Författare :Anna Kokla; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Parasitic plants are important agricultural pests that lead to considerable yield losses annually. Parasitic plants that completely rely on their hosts for their survival are known as obligatory parasites, whereas those independent of their hosts but parasitize under the right conditions are known as facultative parasitic plants. 3. 18. Transvascular fluid exchange with application to the brain. An experimental study in cat skeletal muscle and brain

    Författare :Lis Kongstad; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurologi; neurophysiology; neuropsychology; Neurology; intensivvård; capillary filtration coefficient; Capillary permeability; reflection coefficient; brain edema; dural puncture; Anaesthesiology; Anestesiologi; intensive care; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : This study evaluated transcapillary fluid exchange in the cat brain and in a cat skeletal muscle enclosed in a plethysmograph. A method for determination of capillary permeability (capillary filtration coefficient and reflection coefficient) and effects of transcapillary hydrostatic pressure changes were studied We found that capillary fluid permeability in a tissue can be determined by the capillary filtration coefficient, even when arterial pressure and vascular tone are changed. 4. 19. Effects on cardiac output distribution of propranolol, verapamil and epidural blockade during continuous positive-pressure ventilation : An experimental study in the pig

    Författare :Per Elowsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : The blood perfusion of all body regions is governed by local vasoregulation, and systemic humoral and neural impulses provide additional tuning of vascular tone. Is the regulation of circulation centralised or, in other words, is the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) superior to local autoregulation of the perfusion of vital organs? Using the microsphere method and acquired data on the body composition of the pig, it was possible to interpret the absolute distribution of cardiac output (CO) and flux changes between organs and tissues. 5. 20. Posture and brain function in dementia. A study with special reference to orthostatic hypotension

    Författare :Ulla Passant; Sektion IV; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; falls and fractures.; white matter disease; hypoperfusion; frontal lobes; regional cerebral blood flow; blood pressure; orthostatic hypotension; Organic dementia; normal subjects; Psychiatry; clinical psychology; psychosomatics; Psykiatri; klinisk psykologi; psykosomatik;

    Sammanfattning : Orthostatic hypotension (OH) is believed to be an important cause of cerebral hypoperfusion, leading to chronic fatigue, blurred vision, unsteadiness, dizziness and sometimes syncope. It may also result in episodes of confusion, falls and fractures. The coupling between OH and organic dementia is not clear. LÄS MER
