  1. 1. Regulation of PKCalpha and the role of PKC in neuroblastoma cell migration

    Författare :Helena Stensman; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; neuroblastoma; cell migration; intramolecular interactions; autophosphorylation; Protein kinase C; onkologi; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : Members of the protein kinase C (PKC) family of serine/threonine kinases play critical roles in cellular regulation. Depending on differences in regulation, PKCs can be divided into classical (alpha, betaI, betaII and gamma), novel (delta, epsilon, eta and theta) and atypical (zeta and iota/lambda) isoforms. 2. 2. Protein phosphorylation in plant mitochondria

    Författare :André Struglics; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; FoF1-ATPase; autophosphorylation; protein kinase activity; protein phosphorylation; Plant mitochondria; inner mitochondrial membrane; NDPK; Physiological biophysics; Växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Protein phosphorylation in the subcompartments of plant mitochondria was investigated by labelling with [gamma-32P]ATP and by SDS-PAGE/autoradiography. About 20 proteins in inside-out inner mitochondrial membranes from potato tubers were phosphorylated by endogenous protein kinases when incubated with [gamma-32P]ATP. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Specific signaling through heteromeric PDGF receptor complexes

    Författare :Simon Ekman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) is a potent mitogen and chemoattractant for mesenchymal cells and exert its effect by binding to two structurally related receptor tyrosine kinases, denoted α- and β-receptors. PDGF binding induces dimerization of its receptors, both homo-and heterodimerization, leading to their autophosphorylation on tyrosine residues and binding of downstream signaling molecules. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies on rotavirus replication

    Författare :Alexis Fuentes; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Rotavirus is the leading cause of dehydrating diarrhea in infants and young children globally. In cells infected with rotavirus SA11 the synthesis of viral RNA and protein predominated already after a few hours. Cellular RNA remained intact, but viral mRNA was preferentially utilised for protein synthesis. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The Saccharomyces cerevisiae MAPKAP kinases Rck1 and Rck2 in stress responses

    Författare :Elizabeth Bilsland; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The Saccharomyces cerevisiae protein kinases Rck1 and Rck2 (Radiation sensitivity Complementing Kinases) were originally cloned as suppressors of Schizosaccharomyces pombe checkpoint mutants. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae we found that overexpression of either kinase has the ability to depress sporulation in mec1 and rad24 mutant backgrounds. LÄS MER
