1. Rapid Facial Reactions to Emotionally Relevant Stimuli
Sammanfattning : The present thesis investigated the relationship between rapid facial muscle reactions and emotionally relevant stimuli. In Study I, it was demonstrated that angry faces elicit increased Corrugator supercilii activity, whereas happy faces elicit increased Zygomaticus major activity, as early as within the first second after stimulus onset. 2. New Instrumentation for Forensic Applications : Automatic Fiber Detection and Breath Alcohol Measurements
Sammanfattning : Two forensic instruments have been developed and evaluated with respect to basic characteristics. One instrument is used for automatic fiber detection and the other for breath alcohol measurement. LÄS MER
3. Estimation and Control of Resonant Systems with Stochastic Disturbances
Sammanfattning : The presence of vibration is an important problem in many engineering applications. Various passive techniques have traditionally been used in order to reduce waves and vibrations, and their harmful effects. Passive techniques are, however, difficult to apply in the low frequency region. LÄS MER
4. Automatic speaker verification on site and by telephone: methods, applications and assessment
Sammanfattning : Speaker verification is the biometric task of authenticating a claimed identity by means of analyzing a spoken sample of the claimant's voice. The present thesis deals with various topics related to automatic speaker verification (ASV) in the context of its commercial applications, characterized by co-operative users, user-friendly interfaces, and requirements for small amounts of enrollment and test data.
