  1. 1. Regulation of survival and proliferation of human intestinal epithelial cells by leukotriene D4

    Författare :Sailaja Paruchuri; Malmö Experimentell patologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rac; General pathology; pathological anatomy; Patologi allmän ; patologisk anatomi; PI3K; CREB; p90RSK; Erk-1 2; PKC; inflammation; migration apoptosis; proliferation; LTD4; cell survival;

    Sammanfattning : The pro-inflammatory mediator, Leukotriene D4 (LTD4) is a product of arachidonic acid cascade and has been implicated in asthma and inflammatory bowel diseases. Prolonged inflammatory conditions like ulcerative colitis increases the risk for the development of cancer and the factors that induce the chronic immune response remain uncertain. LÄS MER

  2. 2. ADP regulation of insulin secretion and beta-cell apoptosis

    Författare :Chanyuan Tan; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; P2Y; β-cell; ADP; insulin; apoptosis; autocrine; ectonucleotidase;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this dissertation were to investigate the effects of extracellular purines on insulin secretion, and apoptosis in mouse pancreatic islets and β-cells; to examine if high glucose and free fatty acids induces β-cell apoptosis via autocrine effects of ADP acting on the P2Y13 receptor; and to investigate the modulation of extracellular purines in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) through ectonucleotidase or ATP release under the effect of high glucose. The expression of the ADP receptors P2Y1 and P2Y13 were shown in both mouse pancreatic islets and isolated β-cells using real-time PCR quantification. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Development of a protein-free fed-batch process for NS0 cells: studies on regulation of proliferation

    Författare :Erika Spens; Lena Häggström; Jean-Louis Goergen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NS0 myeloma cells; protein-free medium; fed-batch; conditioned medium; autocrine growth factors; abortive proliferation; protease activity; aprotinin; gp130; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The overall objective of this study was to investigate how NS0 cell proliferation is regulated in protein-free media. The hypothesis was that during the adaptation to growth factor-free media, animal cell lines start to produce their own autocrine growth factors to support proliferation, and after some time in a culture the effects of these factors are lost which results in cessation of proliferation. 4. 4. Impact of autocrine factors on physiology and productivity in Trichoplusia ni serum-free cultures

    Författare :Ulrika Eriksson; Lena Häggström; Per Berglund; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biotechnology; Trichoplusia ni; High Five; insect cells; BEVS; serum-free medium; yeast extract; conditioned medium; autocrine regulation of proliferation; growth factors; cell cycle; metalloproteinase; specific productivity; Bioteknik; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to increase the understanding of the mechanisms regulating cell proliferation and recombinant protein production in serum-free cultures of Trichoplusia ni (T. ni) insect cells.Conditioned medium (CM) was shown to contain both stimulatory and inhibitory factors (CM factors) influencing cell growth. 5. 5. Regenerative effects of mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes

    Författare :Xiaoqin Wang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; aging; cell adhesion; cell-material interaction; exosomes; extracellular vesicles; mesenchymal stem cells; osteogenic differentiation; proliferation; regeneration; titanium;

    Sammanfattning : Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) play pivotal roles for bone regeneration by virtue of their osteogenic differentiation ability and immunomodulatory capacity. Recently, secretion of exosomes/extracellular vesicles (EVs) has been suggested as a new mechanism of MSC-based therapy. LÄS MER
