  1. 1. Passivation of Austenitic Stainless Steel

    Författare :Lena Wegrelius; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stainless steel; chloride; molybdenum; passivation; hydrochloric acid; nitrogen; ESCA; dissolution;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis is to study the corrosion resistance and passivation of high alloyed austenitic stainless steels exposed to hydrochloric acid. The introductory section gives a background to the subject; electrochemical measurements and surface analysis by the ESCA-technique (Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Deformation and Fatigue Behaviour of Porous and Dense Austenitic Stainless Steel

    Författare :Ulf Lindstedt; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mechanical properties; austenitic stainless steel; PM steel; nitrogen; small cracks; previous particle boundaries; microplasticity; grain size dependence; fatigue; porosity;

    Sammanfattning : PM stainless steels are increasing in use and are expected to do so in the future. A lot of work has been carried out concerning production and sintering of stainless steel powders and on the resulting corrosion behaviour. The deformation behaviour of these materials is less studied. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Chlorine Induced Corrosion in Biomass and Waste Fired Boilers: Laboratory and Field Investigations

    Författare :Nicklas Folkeson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; austenitic; chloride; biomass; high temperature corrosion; ferritic; waste; steel;

    Sammanfattning : The fireside corrosion in biomass and waste fired boilers is widely believed to arise from the presence of chlorine-containing compounds in the fuels. Although many researchers have studied the influence of such compounds on the high temperature corrosion of various steels, the mechanisms underlying chlorine-induced corrosion are still poorly understood. 4. 4. Deposit Induced Corrosion in Biofuel Combustion

    Författare :Petter Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ferritic steel; high temperature corrosion; superheater; waste combustion; CFB; biofuel boiler; waterwall; alkali chloride; deposit induced corrosion; chromate; nickel-based alloy; austenitic steel; martensitic steel; waste boiler;

    Sammanfattning : Deposit induced corrosion is one of the main mechanisms for attack on heat exchangers in biofuel boilers. This severe corrosion decreases the obtainable steam temperature in boilers, thereby the efficiency in production of electricity is reduced. Deposit formation from the gas on superheater tubes are is generally referred to as fouling. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Initiation and Repassivation of Pits on Austenitic Stainless Steel

    Författare :Fredrik Falkenberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; chloro complex; pitting corrosion; metastable pits; phosphate; nitrogen; passive film; chloride; repassivation; molybdenum; austenitic stainless steel;

    Sammanfattning : Stainless steels can be damaged by pitting corrosion in presence of aggressive anions, such as halide ions. The aim of this work was to study different aspects on initiation and repassivation of pits on austenitic stainless steel in chloride solutions at ambient temperature. LÄS MER
