  1. 1. Evaluation of nasal speech : a study of assessments by speech-language pathologists, untrained listeners and nasometry

    Författare :Karin Brunnegård; Jan van Doorn; Anette Lohmander; Fiona Gibbon; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hypernasality; auditory perceptual evaluation; reliability; nasometer; nasalance; Logopedics and phoniatrics; Logopedi och foniatrik;

    Sammanfattning : Excessive nasal resonance in speech (hypernasality) is a disorder which may have negative communicative and social consequences for the speaker. Excessive nasal resonance is often associated with cleft lip and palate, velopharyngeal impairment, dysarthria or hearing impairment. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Sound for Multisensory Motion Simulators

    Författare :Alexander Väljamäe; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; auditory scene synthesis; spatial audio; presence; virtual reality; cognitive acoustics; illusory self-motion; vection ; multisensory optimization;

    Sammanfattning : Interaction in a virtual reality environment often implies situations of illusory self-motion, like, for example, in flight or driving scenarios. Striving for pictorial realism, currently available motion simulators often exhibit relatively poor sound design. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Methods for product sound design

    Författare :Arne Nykänen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknisk akustik; Engineering Acoustics;

    Sammanfattning : Product sound design has received much attention in recent years. This has created a need to develop and validate tools for developing product sound specifications. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Imaging brain functions during neuropsychological testing

    Författare :Per Hamid Ghatan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Keywords: Positron Emission Tomography; Cognition; Alcohol; Nicotine; Brain injury; Interference;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis has dealt with the development of tools for assessing cognitive functions(attention and working memory) using functional imaging and the evaluation of the modulatory effects of performance, nicotine, alcohol, brain injury and auditory interference. Two cognitive tasks commonly used in the assessment of patients with brain injury, the externally-generated Perceptual Maze Test (PMT) and an internally-generated arithmetical task, Serial-7, were used as activation paradigms.
