7. Insights into the effect of myocardial revascularisation on electrical and mechanical cardiac function
Sammanfattning : Background: Acute coronary syndrome is known for its effect on cardiac function and can lead to impaired segmental and even global myocardial function. Evidence exists that myocardial revascularisation whether pharmacological, interventional or surgical results in improvement of systolic and diastolic left ventricular (LV) function, particularly that of the long axis which represents the sub-endocardial function, known as the most sensitive layer to ischaemia. 8. Blood pressure-dependent changes in plasma volume, glycocalyx and platelet function during anaesthesia -Clinical and experimental studies
Sammanfattning : Background: Worldwide, more than 300 million surgeries are performed each year. General anaesthesia provides the surgical patient with a state of controlled loss of sensation and awareness. It is common that general anaesthesia causes hypotension. Anaesthesia-induced hypotension is associated with haemodilution and increased plasma volume (PV). LÄS MER
9. Children with symptomatic urinary tract infection in Göteborg 1970-79 followed for two decades
Sammanfattning : Objective: To study a populationbased cohort of subjects, detected after their first known urinary tract infection (UTI) with special focus on: the natural course of vesicoureteral reflux; the prevalence of renal scarring, age at detection and factors of importance for its development; the long term risk of impaired renal function and hypertension. Methods: Analyses of data, prospectively registered during childhood, and an adulthood follow-up investigation evaluating renal function by 51Cr-EDTA clearance and blood pressure by 24-hour ambulatory technique. 10. Implications of brief episodes of atrial fibrillation (micro-AF)
Sammanfattning : INTRODUCTION: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common clinically relevant arrhythmia. It is diagnosed using an electrocardiogram (ECG) and defined as an irregular heart rhythm without p-waves lasting for at least 30 seconds. This 30-second time criterion is based solely on expert consensus. LÄS MER
