16. Titania Nanoscale Films and Surfaces : Surface Science Investigation of Structure and Properties
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents surface science studies, investigating several aspects of titanium dioxide at the atomic scale. The greater part of this work is devoted to the preparation by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of titanium(IV) tetraisopropoxide (TTIP) of ultrathin TiO2 or TiOx films on Au(111). LÄS MER
17. Distorted Space and Multipoles in Electronic Structure Calculations
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns methods for electronic structure calculations and some applications of the methods. The augmented planewave (APW) basis set and it’s relatives LAPW (linearised APW) and APW+lo (local orbitals) have been widely used for electronic structure calculations. LÄS MER
18. High Resolution Spectroscopy of Singly Charged Ions : Applications of Laser and Fourier Transform Techniques
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents measurements of fundamental properties of singly charged ionic systems including spectral wavelengths, lifetimes of excited states and branching fractions with the main focus on time resolved laser spectroscopy of stored ions providing lifetime measurements of metastable states. The results of these measurements have been used to determine energy levels and transition probabilities of the studied systems. LÄS MER
19. Fragmentation of Amino Acids and Microsolvated Peptides and Nucleotides using Electrospray Ionization Tandem Mass Spectrometry
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents three different series of high energy (keV) collision experiments as well as a brief scientific introduction to the field. In the first series, protonated glycine and leucine were collided with carbon dioxide and a beam attenuation method was applied to determine their total fragmentation cross sections. LÄS MER
20. Weak Atomic Interactions
Sammanfattning : An atom or ion can change quantum state, usually through emission or absorption of a photon. The photon has the same energy as the energy difference between the states of the transition. The states, or energy levels, of an atom are quantized and light emitted, or absorbed, from the atom is therefore of specific wavelengths, giving spectral lines. LÄS MER
