21. Optical Studies of Single Quantum Dots
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents spectroscopic studies of single self-assembled InP quantum dots (QDs). The electronic properties of these QDs have been studied by photoluminescence (PL) and scanning tunnelling luminescence (STL). The QDs were grown in the Stranski-Krastanow mode and were embedded in GaInP. LÄS MER
22. Lidar Techniques for Environmental Monitoring
Sammanfattning : Atoms and molecules absorb and emit light at certain, welldefined wavelengths, and this forms the basis of spectroscopy. The wavelengths are given by the discrete energy levels of the atoms/molecules. LÄS MER
23. Geometrical Structure, Phase Diagrams, and Core-Level Binding Energiesof Metal Surfaces: Calculations, Simulations, and Experiments
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns clean and adsorbate covered metal surfaces and surface alloys. These systems have been studied using theoretical and experimental methods. In the first part of the thesis, the different techniques that have been utilized in this work are presented, and the included publications are summarized. LÄS MER
24. Defect-engineered (Ti,Al)N thin films
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the effect of point defects (nitrogen vacancies and interstitials) and multilayering ((Ti,Al)N/TiN) on the phase transformations in cathodic arc-evaporated cubic (Ti,Al)N thin films at elevated temperatures. Special attention is paid to the evolution of the beneficial spinodal decomposition into c-TiN and c-AlN, the detrimental formation of wurtzite AlN and the potential application as hard coating in cutting tools. 25. Spatial and temporal aspects of intense attosecond pulses for pump-probe experiments
Sammanfattning : Nuclear and electronic dynamics in atoms and molecules are the foundation of many physical processes and chemical reactions. Often, these dynamics take place on timescales so much shorter than those commonly encountered that they are called ultrafast. LÄS MER
