11. Electron Transport in Semiconductor Nanowires
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, semiconductor nanowires are studied from the point of view of growth and electrical properties. The growth of nanowires is done by chemical beam epitaxy (CBE), an ultra-high vacuum technique allowing a precise control of precursor deposition and low growth rates. LÄS MER
12. A study of hydroelastic fluid-structure interaction with application to immersed cantilevers
Sammanfattning : This study presents an approach for partitioned fluid-structure interaction (FSI) applied to large structural deformations, where an incompressible turbulent solver is combined with a structural solver. The implementation is based upon two different open-source libraries by using MPI as a parallel communication protocol, the packages deal. LÄS MER
13. On the antiporter-like subunits of respiratory chain Complex I - implications for the evolution and coupling mechanism of the NADH:quinone oxidoreductase enzyme complex
Sammanfattning : Complex I or NADH:quinone oxidoreductase is the largest enzyme complex, but the least understood energy coupling site in the respiratory chain of mitochondria and bacteria. No high-resolution structural information exists for this enzyme and the molecular mechanism that couples electron transfer and proton pumping is not understood. LÄS MER
14. Ultracold atoms in optical potentials : from noise-induced transport to superfluidity
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, both experimental studies and numerical simulations of ultracold atoms in optical potentials are presented in a collection of nine scientific papers. In particular, noise-induced transport in dissipative optical lattices and superfluid properties of Bose-Einstein condensates have been studied. LÄS MER
15. Crystalline cellulose in bulk and at interfaces as studied by atomistic computer simulations
Sammanfattning : Cellulose is a linear polysaccharide, serving as reinforcement in plant cell walls.Understanding its structure and properties is of importance in the developmentof nanostructured cellulose materials. LÄS MER
