  1. 1. Analysis and Design of Hybrid Systems

    Författare :Stefan Pettersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; asymptotic stability; Lyapunov theory; exponential stability; piecewise quadratic Lyapunov functions; hybrid systems; stability; linear matrix inequalities; nonlinear systems; LMIs; control theory; fuzzy systems;

    Sammanfattning : Many physical systems today are modeled by interacting continuous and discrete event systems. Such hybrid systems contain both continuous and discrete states that influence the dynamic behavior. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Global stability and feedback control of boundary layer flows

    Författare :Espen Åkervik; Dan S. Henningson; Luca Brandt; Dwight Barkley; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stability; Global Stability; Feedback Control; Control; Estimation; Absolute Convective Instabilities; Model Reduction; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the stability of generic boundary layer flows is studied from a global viewpoint using optimization methods. Global eigenmodes of the incompressible linearized Navier-Stokes equations are computed using the Krylov subspace Arnoldi method. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Branch Identification in Elastic Stability Analysis

    Författare :Anders Magnusson; Hållfasthetslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vacuum technology; hydraulics; Mechanical engineering; Produktionsteknik; Production technology; FEM; computer simulation; bifurcation; stability; vibration and acoustic engineering; Maskinteknik; hydraulik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, methods to determine the static postbuckling behaviour of elastic structures undergoing large deformations, are considered and developed. Since the governing non-linear equations usually becomes too complex to be handled analytically, the main focus has been on developing methods that can be incorporated into a numerical solution scheme, such as the finite element method.     Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Modular multilevel converters MMCs ; stability; admittance; frequency-domain analysis; linearization techniques; current control; voltage control; ac ac converters; railway engineering.; Modulära multinivåomvandlare MMC ; stabilitet; admittans; frekvensanalys; linjäriseringsmetoder; strömreglering; spänningsreglering; ac ac omvandlare; järnvägsteknik.; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Modular multilevel converters (MMCs) have recently become the state-of-the-art solution for various grid-connected applications, such as high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems and flexible alternating current transmission systems (FACTS). Modularity, scalability, low power losses, and low harmonic distortion are the outstanding properties that make MMCs a key technology for a sustainable future. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Extremum Seeking Control : Stability, Accuracy, and Applications

    Författare :Khalid Atta; Ying Tan; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Reglerteknik; Control Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : In many applications, there is a variable that indicates the overall performance and that must be maximized, such as the output of a hydro power turbine or a mineral processing plant, or that must be minimized, such as CO2 emissions or the consumption of resources. Extremization of this variable (maximization or minimization) through adjusting the influencing manipulated variables is occasionally required without prior knowledge of the optimal values of the manipulated variables or of the optimized variable.
