  1. 1. Analysis of Deformation of Gas Diffusion Layers and the Impact on Performance of PEM Fuel Cells

    Författare :Jiatang Wang; Värmeöverföring; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PEM fuel cell; compression ratio; assembly pressure; porosity; deformed GDL; electric resistance; transport phenomena; model; performance; analysis; OpenFOAM;

    Sammanfattning : Proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells have been promoted due to significant breakthroughs in various aspects and increasing public interests. The porous features of the gas diffusion layer (GDL) and the necessary assembly processes generate localized pressure forces on the channel/shoulder structure of the bi-polar plates (BPP). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Integration and Fabrication Techniques for 3D Micro- and Nanodevices

    Författare :Andreas C. Fischer; Frank Niklaus; Karl F. Böhringer; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Microelectromechanical systems; MEMS; Nanoelectromechanical systems; NEMS; silicon; wafer-level; chip-level; through silicon via; TSV; packaging; 3D packaging; vacuum packaging; liquid encapsulation; integration; heterogeneous integration; wafer bonding; microactuators; shape memory alloy; SMA; wire bonding; magnetic assembly; self-assembly; 3D; 3D printing; focused ion beam; FIB;

    Sammanfattning : The development of micro and nano-electromechanical systems (MEMS and NEMS) with entirely new or improved functionalities is typically based on novel or improved designs, materials and fabrication methods. However, today’s micro- and nano-fabrication is restrained by manufacturing paradigms that have been established by the integrated circuit (IC) industry over the past few decades. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Self Assembly at the Liquid Air Interface

    Författare :Niga Petru; Rutland Mark; Ye Shen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; VSFS; SFG; interface; crown ethers; ethylene oxides; ionic liquids; fatty acids; domains.; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this work is to study the interfacial properties of amphiphilic compounds at the liquid–air interface in an attempt to develop a comprehensive understanding of their orientation as well as the influence of their interaction with the solvent on the interfacial layer properties. Using Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy (VSFS) as the main tool, the molecular structure of the amphiphilic layer and the amphiphile–solvent relation can be illuminated in great detail – it is arguably the most sensitive surface spectroscopy currently available. 4. 4. Aerodynamic design framework for low-pressure compression systems

    Författare :Marcus Lejon; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; manufacturing variations; optimization; stage matching; tip clearance; validation; Turbomachinery; CFD; surface roughness; compressor;

    Sammanfattning : Aircraft engine manufacturers strive to improve current state of the art designs through continuous development efforts. By improving existing designs and exploring new alternatives, the goal is to reduce the fuel consumption - a topic of high relevance due to the remarkable growth rate of air traffc. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Influence of electrode material and stochastic factors on the performance and microbial community assembly in microbial electrochemical systems

    Författare :Marie Abadikhah; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :microbial community assembly; bioanode; biocathode; biochemical system;

    Sammanfattning : Microbial electrolysis cells (MECs) are systems with microbial communities in the form of biofilms on electrode surfaces. The electrogenic bacteria in the anode biofilm act as catalysts for the oxidization of organic compounds, leading to release of electrons, generation of electrical current, and production of hydrogen and methane at the cathode.
