    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the rural artists’ colony in Grez-sur-Loing and its art from the heyday of the community, 1875–1885, when artists from North America, England, Scotland, Ireland, and Scandinavia were gathering in the French village.     Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to explore how pensionerhood is formed through music-making. What are the building blocks of pensionerhood in musical contexts, and which values are included and excluded? In the study pensionerhood is defined in terms of cultural position, the term forming is used to define conditioning, limiting and enabling forces and the term music-making denotes a wide set of activities from arranging venues to performance.
