21. Ageing and Conservation of Silk. Evaluation of Three Support Methods Using Artificially Aged Silk
Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis is to evaluate common remedial conservation support methods used in the conservation treatments of fragile silk costumes that have experienced physical damage. It is based on five papers. LÄS MER
22. Optimization of paediatric CT examinations - An approach to minimize absorbed dose to patients with regard to image quality and observer variability
Sammanfattning : The absorbed dose to paediatric patients is important bearing in mind the increased risk of radiation-induced cancer due to exposure to X-rays at young ages. Questions have also been raised of whether a CT examination of the paediatric brain might lead to a reduction in cognitive function. LÄS MER
23. Development of methods for evaluation and optimization of chest tomosynthesis
Sammanfattning : Tomosynthesis is a low-dose technique that has attracted increasing interest from the medical imaging community during the past decade. Tomosynthesis refers to the technique of acquiring a number of projection radiographs using extremely low exposure over a limited angular range, and using these radiographs to reconstruct slices of the imaged object. 24. Toxicity of metal containing micro- and nanoparticles : studies from an inhalation perspective
Sammanfattning : Particles in urban environments have for a long time been associated with different health problems and diseases, such as worsening of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease as well as cancer and cardiovascular diseases. In addition, metal containing particles present in occupational settings and industries, particularly particles produced during welding, have been linked to several adverse health effects. LÄS MER
25. Ecotoxicological assessment by microcosm tests on plankton communities
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to present a short-term plankton community toxicity test in laboratory microcosms, with which the effect of the test substance on species abundance and composition of the community is evaluated. This laboratory microcosm is an intermediate between single-species tests and outdoor mesocosm tests. LÄS MER
