  1. 11. PET studies of the serotonin transporter in the human brain

    Författare :Johan Lundberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :positron emission tomography; MADAM; WAY 100635; 5-HTT; 5-HT1A receptors; receptor occupancy; major depressive disorder; citalopram; escitalopram;

    Sammanfattning : The serotonin (5-HT) system attracts considerable attention in research on the pathophysiology and drug treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders. The brain imaging technique Positron Emission Tomography (PET) allows for examination of neurotransmission systems in the human brain in vivo. LÄS MER

  2. 12. In vivo quantification of extrastriatal dopamine D2 receptors in the human brain

    Författare :Hans Olsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :FLB 457; positron emission tomography; pituitary; receptor density; affinity; benzamide; Scatchard; saturation; receptor occupancy;

    Sammanfattning : The dopamine D2 receptor subtype attracts considerable attention in research on the patophysiology and drug treatment of several neuropsychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia and Parkinson's disease. The brain imaging technology Positron Emission Tomography (PET) has since long allowed for reliable quantification of the high density of dopamine D2 receptors in large brain structures such as the neostriatum. 3. 13. The role of the serotonergic system and the effects of antidepressants during brain development examined using in vivo PET imaging and in vitro receptor binding

    Författare :Stal Saurav Shrestha; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Serotonin (5-HT) and the serotonergic system, which includes the serotonin transporter (SERT) and the two G protein-coupled 5-HT1A and 5-HT1B receptors, are implicated in the pathophysiology and treatment of several neuropsychiatric disorders including major depressive disorder (MDD) and anxiety. Two classes of antidepressants—selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), which block SERT, and tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), which block several monoamine transporters—alter 5-HT levels and modulate the serotonergic system.
