  1. 1. Effects of arsenic trioxide and hypoxia in multidrug-resistant neuroblastoma

    Författare :Jenny Karlsson; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Klinisk biologi; Clinical biology; neuroblastoma; multidrug resistance; hypoxia; glucose-deficiency; cell death; Bax; Apoptosis; arsenic trioxide;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroblastoma is a childhood tumour derived from the sympathetic nervous system. Although most children with neuroblastoma initially respond to treatment, approximately 50% of these patients relapse with multidrug-resistant tumours. Arsenic trioxide (As2O3) has been used for centuries to treat different clinical disorders including malignancies. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Hypoxic Adaptation and Arsenic Trioxide Treatment in Small Cell Lung Carcinoma

    Författare :Matilda Thorén; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; small cell lung carcinoma; arsenic trioxide; hypoxia; hypoxia-inducible factors; survival; proliferation; glycolysis; glutamine metabolism; MYC;

    Sammanfattning : Small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) is a very aggressive solid tumor and is often widely metastasized by the time of diagnosis. Despite good response to the initial chemotherapy, SCLC cells often develop multidrug resistance to conventionally used chemotherapeutic drugs, which cause almost all SCLC tumors to relapse. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Approaches to Treatment of Children with Advanced Neuroblastoma

    Författare :Ingrid Øra; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatrics; drug resistance; hypoxia; apoptosis; arsenic trioxide; treatment; diagnosis; neuroblastoma; sympathetic nervous system; Pediatri; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : Children with advanced neuroblastoma are at high risk for relapse of multidrug resistant disease, despite initial response to intensive multimodality treatment. Neuroblastomas have similarities with immature neuroblasts seen during embryonic development of the sympathetic nervous system (the origin of these tumors). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Identification and Functional Significance of Aberrant Long Non-coding RNAs in Acute Myeloid Leukemia : Biological and Prognostic Implications

    Författare :Anne H. Neddermeyer; Sören Lehmann; Jonas Larsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acute myeloid leukemia AML ; hematopoiesis; long non-coding RNAs lncRNAs ; RNA- and CAGE-sequencing; CRISPRi; CRISPR-Cas9; NEAT1; APL; NPM1; IDH2; all-trans retinoic acid; arsenic trioxide; venetoclax; drug resistance and sensitivity; prognosis; RADICL-sequencing; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the most frequently diagnosed type of acute leukemia in adults. It commonly affects people aged 60 or older, as incidence increases with age, and it is characterized by the accumulation of immature hematopoietic progenitor cells in the bone marrow. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Clinical and Experimental Studies in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia : Studies of Treatment Outcome, In Vitro Cellular Drug Resistance and Gene Expression

    Författare :Ulla Olsson-Strömberg; Bengt Simonsson; Elin Lindhagen; Gisela Barbany; Johan Richter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medicine; chronic myeloid leukemia; adult; stem cell transplantation; mobilization of Ph-negative stem cells; in vitro assay; imatinib; gene expression; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of the studies described in the thesis were to investigate different treatment strategies in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients. Furthermore, activity of imatinib was investigated by in vitro cytotoxicity assay, and the gene expression pattern in interferon treated patients. LÄS MER
