    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cellulose nanofibrils; colloidal interactions; colloidal stability; arrested state; colloidal glass; colloidal gel; tracer diffusion; counterion; steric stabilization; redispersion; redispersion agent; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : Over the past decades, concerns for the environment have increased and efforts to achieve a sustainable society have intensified. One particular challenge is to replace fossil-based plastics with biodegradable materials produced from renewable resources. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Time-resolved Structural and Mechanistic Studies of Water Oxidation in Photosystem II : water here, water there, water everywhere

    Författare :Casper de Lichtenberg; Johannes Messinger; Wolfgang P. Schröder; Holger Dau; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oxygenic Photosynthesis; Photosystem II; TR-MIMS; isotope exchange; EPR; EDNMR; water splitting; water oxidation;

    Sammanfattning : Oxygenic photosynthesis is undisputedly one of the most important chemical processes for human life on earth as it not only fills the atmosphere with the oxygen that we need to breathe, but also sustains the accumulation of biomass, which is not only used as nourishment but is also present in almost every aspect of our lives as building material, textiles in clothes and furniture, or even as living decorations to name a few.The photosynthetic water-splitting mechanism is catalyzed by a water:plastoquinone oxido-reductase by the name of photosystem II (PSII), which is embedded in the thylakoid membranes of plants, algae and cyanobacteria. 3. 3. On the Phase Behaviour of Soft Matter: Understanding Complex Interactions via Quantitative Imaging

    Författare :Maxime Bergman; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microgels; Lysozyme; eye lens proteins; confocal microscopy; interaction potential; phase behaviour; simulations;

    Sammanfattning : The effect of microscopic colloid interactions on the resultant macroscopic phase behaviour is a frequently studied topic in soft matter resarch, and lies at the heart of this thesis. Key structural and dynamic properties of colloidal model systems across liquid-solid transitions are tracked using optical imaging techniques. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Rättsstat i kris : spioneri och sabotage i Sverige under andra världskriget

    Författare :Janne Flyghed; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Andra världskriget 1939-1945-- spionage -- Sverige;

    Sammanfattning : The concrete example in focus in this study is the legally processed cases of espionage and sabotage in Sweden during the Second World War. How did the constitutional state of Sweden defend itself against spies and saboteurs? What were the consequences of these measures for the civil rights and liberties guaranteed under the law? Did the Swedish legal system - the security police, prosecutors, and judiciary - defer unduly to foreign policy considerations in cases of subversive activities? My main interest has been to answer the question of why German agents were not arrested and convicted until after the military turning-point of the war. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Surface modification approaches of cellulose nanofibrils and their effect on dispersibility

    Författare :Tahani Kaldéus; Eva Malmström; Tekla Tammelin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cellulose nanofibrils; colloidal stability; re dispersibility; surface modification; bio-nanocomposites; interface; cellulosa nanofibriller; kolloidal stabilitet; re dispergerbarhet; ytmodifiering; bio-nanokompositer; gränssnitt; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : In the strive to find and develop sustainable bio-based materials an increased interest for nanocellulosic materials as attractive alternatives has arisen during the past decades. This can be attributed to their abundant renewability, remarkable inherent mechanical properties and their capability to be chemically modified. LÄS MER
