2. Scalability and Semantic Sustainability in Electronic Health Record Systems
Sammanfattning : This work is a small contribution to the greater goal of making software systems used in healthcare more useful and sustainable. To come closer to that goal, health record data will need to be more computable and easier to exchange between systems. LÄS MER
3. Changes in bone mass and skeletal structure in the postmenopausal period
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to evaluate long-term changes in bone mass and skeletal structure in the forearm in the peri- and postmenopausal period. 156 premenopausal women, at baseline aged 48 years, not taking medications and without disease processes known to interfere with bone metabolism, were followed through menopause by measurements of bone mass and skeletal structure at the cortical site of the distal radius by single photon absorptiometry, on average every second year until age 72. 4. Apoptosis induced by a human milk protein complex. Cellular and structural studies in tumour cells and bacteria
Sammanfattning : Human milk contains a vast array of bioactive molecules, with nutritional and protective functions. This thesis describes the effects of a human milk protein complex, MAL, on tumour cells and bacteria. During our studies on the anti-adhesive properties of human milk we observed that a milk fraction killed tumour cells. LÄS MER
5. Non-Invasive Monitoring of Architectural Heritage
Sammanfattning : The on-site documentation and examination of architectural heritage has presented challenges for traditional analysis methods in the form of, among other things, large complex structures, sites and environmental conditions. In recent years there has been growing interest in assessing progressing deterioration processes and material analysis, with an emphasis on sustainable conservation and maintenance planning. LÄS MER
