  1. 11. Quantitative microscopy of coating uniformity

    Författare :Christina Dahlström; Tetsu Uesaka; Magnus Norgren; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Coating uniformity; coating microstructure uniformity; base sheet effects; argon ion beam milling; scanning electron microscopy; image analysis; binder distributions; autocorrelation analysis; random deposition process; simulation;

    Sammanfattning : Print quality demands for coated papers are steadily growing, and achieving coating uniformity is crucial for high image sharpness, colour fidelity, and print uniformity. Coating uniformity may be divided into two scales: coating thickness uniformity and coating microstructure uniformity, the latter of which includes pigment, pore and binder distributions within the coating layer. 3. 13. An Experimental Study of Liquid Steel Sampling

    Författare :Ola Ericsson; Pär Jönsson; Andrey Karasev; Malin Hallberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; liquid steel sampling; slag protection; filling velocity; solidification rate; sample homogeneity; Metallurgical process and manufacturing engineering; Metallurgisk process- och produktionsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Sampling of liquid steel to control the steel making process is very important in the steel industry. However, there are numerous types of disposable samplers and no united standard for sampling. The goal in this study is to investigate the effect of slag protection type and sample geometry on sampling parameters and sample homogeneity. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Oxidation, Creep and Fatigue Synergies in Cast Materials for Exhaust Manifolds

    Författare :Shengmei Xiang; Joakim Odqvist; Baohua Zhu; Stefan Jonsson; Johan Ahlström; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fatigue; low-cycle fatigue; fatigue in an inert atmosphere; fatigue in a synthetic diesel exhaust atmosphere; corrosion-fatigue; creep-fatigue; high-temperature corrosion; high-temperature fatigue; synergistic effect; corrosion-fatigue synergy; creep-fatigue synergy; high-temperature alloys; fatigue damage; creep-fatigue damage; corrosion-fatigue damage; ductile cast iron; high-alloyed austenitic cast steel; thermal cycling; precipitation; aging.; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The future development of engines of heavy-duty vehicles towards reduced CO2 emission will increase the exhaust gas temperature and render the exhaust atmosphere more corrosive. The current service material of exhaust gas components - a ferritic ductile cast iron called SiMo51 - will soon meet its upper-temperature limit. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Mass transfer and slag-metal reaction in ladle refining : a CFD approach

    Författare :Eva Ramström; Du Sichen; Mselly Nozotta; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; reoxidation; desulphurisation; CFD; ladle treatment; model; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning :   In order to optimise the ladle treatment mass transfer modelling of aluminium addition and homogenisation time was carried out. It was stressed that incorporating slag-metal reactions into the mass transfer modelling strongly would enhance the reliability and amount of information to be analyzed from the CFD calculations.
