Sammanfattning : The starting point of the doctoral project Minnesrörelser (Movements of Memory) is a documentary material, based on interviews, archival documents, letters, diaries and more, from Germany and Sweden from the 1930's to present time, focusing on childhood, upbringing, eugenics, bilingualism. The family as a place for historical writing, family stories inevitably connected with political history, and how they can be passed on or kept secret makes up the main subject matter, where questions of memory and postmemory, heritage and transgenerational consequences of terror, war and guilt, as well as the role of silence, speaking and translation, are investigated. 12. Program Matters : From Drawing to Code
Sammanfattning : Whether on paper, on site or mediating between both, means for reading and writing geometry have been central to architecture: the use of compasses and rulers, strings, pins, stakes or plumb-lines enabled the analysis and reproduction of congruent figures on different surfaces since antiquity, and from the renaissance onwards, the consistent planar representation of three-dimensional shapes by means of projective geometry. Tacitly through practice, or explicitly encoded in classical geometry, the operational syntaxes of drawing instruments, real or imaginary, have determined the geometric literacies regulating the production and instruction of architecture. Sammanfattning : This dissertation investigates fashion ephemera as objects of knowledge. By focusing on a category of fashion ephemera (invitations, catalogues and press releases) created by contemporary ready-to-wear fashion designers, this study moves beyond the canonical idea that fashion exclusively endures in the form of garments or other wearable objects, while shedding light on an overlooked category of fashion objects. 15. Toni Morrison and the Writing of Place
Sammanfattning : This dissertation explores the writing of place in Toni Morrison’s fiction, focusing primarily on the novels Beloved (1987), Paradise (1998), and A Mercy (2008). It analyses particular instances of written places in these works in a twofold way, namely, how place is foregrounded through literary means in the text and how place has emerged in a process of shaping.
