  1. 1. On the exposure assessment of engineered nanoparticles in aquatic environments

    Författare :Julian A. Gallego-Urrea; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aquatic nanoparticles; exposure assessment;

    Sammanfattning : The socio-economic benefits anticipated with the use and production of nanomaterial and nanoparticles in consumer products are linked to the fulfillment of the requirement for sustainability during the whole material life cycle. Engineered nanoparticles (ENP) can be of environmental concern, both due to the possible hazardous effects but also due to the differences in properties compared to regular chemicals, e. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Potential of Organosolv Lignin Nanoparticles as a Sustainable Flotation Reagent : Towards a Low-Carbon Footprint Mining Industry

    Författare :Katerina Hruzova; Ulrika Rova; Saija Luukkanen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Organosolv lignin particles; Nanoparticles; Flotation reagent; Copper recovery; Biokemisk processteknik; Biochemical Process Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The green transition is driving a steep increase in the demand for minerals, which has put the focus on more responsible and sustainable mining practices as there is a growing pressure on mining operations to minimise their environmental footprint, mitigate risks in neighbouring communities, and decrease the consumption of natural resources. In 2022, mineral froth flotation was used to recover 18 million tonnes of copper from copper ore, accounting for 80% of total copper mine output. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Surface reactivity, stability, and mobility of metal nanoparticles in aqueous solutions : Influence of natural organic matter and implications on particle dispersion preparation

    Författare :Sulena Pradhan; Inger Odnevall Wallinder; Jonas Hedberg; Eva Blomberg; Emma Strömberg; Kerstin Forsberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nanoparticles; freshwater; di-hydroxybenzoic acid; humic acid; copper; aluminium; manganese; dissolution; agglomeration; stability; complexation; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The growing development of nanotechnology has resulted in an increased use of nanoparticles (NPs) in various applications ranging from medicine, military, to daily consumer products. There is a concern that NPs can be dispersed into the environment in various ways, for example to air and water during manufacture, use, incineration or recycling of products and thus pose a risk to health and the environment. Sammanfattning : Nanoparticles (NPs) and nanomaterials (NMs) are present everywhere in the environment. They can form both as an act of nature and during human activities. Various kinds of NPs and NMs are engineered for different applications in the ongoing development of nanoscience and technology. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Colloidal Organic Pollutants in Road Runoff: Sources, Emissions and Effective Treatment Technologies

    Författare :Anna Markiewicz; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; organic pollutants; nanoparticles; stormwater; sorption filters; road dust; emulsions; washwater; vehicle wash; road runoff; microparticles; sweepsand; colloids; street sweeping;

    Sammanfattning : Thousands of organic substances circulate in our society and are diffusely emitted through traffic, combustion and leaching from constructions and building materials into the urban environment. The research in this PhD thesis focuses on road runoff as the highest concentrations of pollutants are frequently found in runoff from areas with high traffic intensity. LÄS MER
