  1. 1. Ecology across Boundaries Food web coupling among and within ecosystems

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Pia Bartels; Peter Eklöv; Lars J. Tranvik; Daniel E. Schindler; [2011]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cross-ecosystem; food web; habitat coupling; terrestrial-aquatic linkages; subsidy; allochthonous; lake ecosystem; population divergence; trait variation; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Terrestrisk; limnisk och marin ekologi; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology Freshwater ecology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Terrestrisk; limnisk och marin ekologi Limnisk ekologi; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi; Biology with specialization in Limnology; Biologi med inriktning mot limnologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cross-boundary movements of energy and material are ubiquitous. Freshwater ecosystems receive nutrients, dissolved, and particulate organic matter from adjacent terrestrial ecosystems, whereas terrestrial ecosystems mainly receive prey organisms and detritus deposited by physical processes such as floods from freshwater ecosystems. 2. 2. Dynamics of astaxanthin, tocopherol (Vitamin E) and thiamine (Vitamin B1) in the Baltic Sea ecosystem Bottom-up effects in an aquatic food web

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Norbert Häubner; Pauli Snoeijs; Jon Ågren; Rhena Schumann; Markku Viitasalo; [2010]
    Nyckelord :Baltic Sea; carotenoids; astaxanthin; tocopherols; Vitamin E; thiamine; Vitamin B1; pelagic food web; eutrophication; M74; phytoplankton; zooplankton; sprat; Sprattus sprattus balticus; herring; Clupea harengus; salmon; Salmo salar; cod; Gadus morhua; High Performance Liquid Chromatography HPLC ; electrochemical detection ECD ;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis combines laboratory experiments and field expeditions to study production, transfer and consumption of non-enzymatic antioxidants and thiamine in an aquatic food web. In particular, I (1) documented spatial and seasonal variation of tocopherols and carotenoids in the Baltic Sea pelagic food web, and (2) examined the effects of abiotic and biotic factors on tocopherol, carotenoid and thiamine concentrations in phytoplankton, zooplankton and fish. 3. 3. Thiamin (vitamin B1) in the aquatic food web

    Detta är en avhandling från Växjö : Linnaeus University Press

    Författare :Emil Fridolfsson; Samuel Hylander; Michael T. Brett; [2019]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phytoplankton; zooplankton; thiamin; transfer; food web dynamics; micronutrient; vitamin; Baltic Sea; community composition; M74; salmon; B1; växtplankton; djurplankton; tiamin; överföring; födoväv; mikronäringsämne; vitamin; Östersjön; B1; lax;

    Sammanfattning : Thiamin (vitamin B1) is required for several life-sustaining processes in most organisms and cells, e.g. in the conversion of food to energy. It also serves as an antioxidant and is important for proper nerve signaling. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Direct and indirect effects of fish predation and excretion in aquatic food webs

    Detta är en avhandling från Limnologiska avdelningen, Ekologihuset S-223 62 Lund, Sweden

    Författare :José Luiz Attayde; [2000]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; marine biology; Hydrobiology; zooplankton; resilience; predation; phytoplankton; nutrient enrichment; nutrient recycling; interaction strength; herbivory; food webs; food chain; excretion; fish; detritus; detritivory; aquatic ecology; limnology; Marinbiologi; limnologi; akvatisk ekologi; Ecology; Ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to elucidate the mechanisms by which planktivorous fish can affect planktonic communities in lakes and how they may affect benthic communities through their effects on planktonic communities. In a laboratory experiment, nutrients released by fish increased algal biomass and altered phytoplankton community structure, suggesting that fish can affect phytoplankton by directly releasing nutrients.
