  1. 1. Handling severe uncertainty in strategic project appraisal : Methods and applications of context analysis

    Författare :Anton Talantsev; Aron Larsson; David Sundgren; John Ward; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Decision Intelligence; Deep Uncertainty; Scenario Analysis; Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis; Simulation; Context Analysis; Project Appraisal; Risk Assessment; Threat and Opportunity; Computer and Systems Sciences; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The long-term success or failure of a strategic project is largely shaped by its context. Therefore, the assessment of the external factors influencing the fulfilment of project long-term goals is vital for the effective project appraisal and planning. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Modelling and Appraisal in Congested Transport Networks

    Författare :Jens West; Maria Börjesson; Oded Cats; Leonid Engelsson; Giulio Cantarella; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transport modelling; Transit Assignment; Appraisal; Congestion; Crowding; Cost-benefit analysis; Value of time; Congestion charge; Dynamic traffic assignment; Transportvetenskap; Transport Science;

    Sammanfattning : Appraisal methodologies for congestion mitigation projects are relatively less well developed compared to methodologies for projects reducing free flow travel times. For instance, static assignment models are incapable of representing the build-up and dissipation of traffic queues, or capturing the experienced crowding caused by uneven on-board passenger loads. 3. 3. Decision Analysis in Fire Safety Engineering - Analysing Investments in Fire Safety

    Författare :Henrik Tehler; Avdelningen för Brandteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Safety technology; Byggnadsteknik; Building construction; investment appraisal; epistemic uncertainties; fire safety; Decision analysis; risk analysis; Säkerhetsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The application of decision analytical methods to the evaluation of investments in fire safety was investigated, particularly with the aim of being able to suggest a method for analysing a specific investment in fire safety for a specific factory. Attention was directed above all at the handling of cases of large epistemic uncertainty regarding both probabilities and utilities, Bayesian decision theory serving as a basis for the development of the method. 4. 4. Persuasiveness in the discourse of wine : The rhetoric of Robert Parker

    Författare :Charlotte Hommerberg; Carita Paradis; Maria Lindgren; Geoff Thompson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :appraisal; assessment; critical discourse analysis; evaluation; persuasiveness; pragma-dialectics; recommendation; rhetoric; rhetorical argumentation; Robert Parker; text analysis; wine review; winespeak; Engelska med språkvetenskaplig inriktning; English;

    Sammanfattning : The primary purpose of this study is to explore a case of remarkably powerful contemporary rhetoric, namely Robert Parker’s wine writing, which has had an unprecedented impact in the world of prestigious wine for more than two decades. Parker, an American autodidact who gave up his career in law to become a fulltime wine critic, is considered the most influential critic of all time. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Fundamentals of a Methodology for Predictive Design Analysis

    Författare :Martin Eriksson; Innovation; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Predictive design analysis; Generic design analysis process model; Confidence appraisal activities; Computer-based design analysis; Engineering design; Integration;

    Sammanfattning : The rapid development of computer-based design analysis tools and methods such as the finite element method (FEM) within computational structural mechanics (CSM), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and multi-body systems (MBS) during recent decades has fundamentally changed the way in which products are designed and developed. Among the many advantages observed in industrial practice, one can mention improved understanding of product properties and behavior, the possibility to optimize critical design parameters and to optimize parts as well as the entire product at a system level, the possibility to explore a design space during the synthesis activity, and a decrease of the need for physical testing and thus of the number of physical prototypes needed.
