    Sammanfattning : Although the differences between psychoanalysis and psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy have been the subject of debate for a long time, there is nevertheless a striking lack of systematic empirical studies of extended psychoanalytical treatment. The aim of this thesis is to use empirical evidence to describe similarities and dissimilarities between psychoanalysis and psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy, as well as the prospects and difficulties inherent in studying the outcomes of these treatments within the framework of a naturalistic quasi-experimental field study.     Sammanfattning : The aim of this dissertation is to examine how Conceptual metaphor theory (CMT), with its detailed conceptual framework for various metaphorical and metonymic thought processes, can clarify and deepen psychoanalysis, specifically Freud's theory of the primary process thinking as a central element in his theory of the unconscious, as well as his interpretive work in the case study, Analysis of a phobia in a five-year-old boy (Little Hans). In a broader perspective, my dissertation also has educational relevance as a contribution to the theoretical discussions of meaning and meaning-making.     Sammanfattning : The purpose of the present thesis was to explore the theoretical and clinical implications of personality disorders (PDs), personality traits, and defense mechanisms in drug abusers diagnosed with psychosis and PDs. The prospect was, via four empirical studies and one paper of discussing methodology, to increase the psychodynamic understanding, which might improve the precision in planning treatments for drug abusers.     Sammanfattning : Abstract The point of departure for this study is the author's experience as educator in a residential home for children (age 6-14) with social-emotional problems, in Italy, between 1980 and 1989. One important element of the pedagogical approach was the use of narratives (personal, of others, of fiction) to prompt children's interest/ motivation to reflect about issues of personal concern.
