36. Zvinorwadza : being a patient in the religious and medical plurality of the Mberengwa district, Zimbabwe
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with patients in a rural area of southern Africa and poses these basic questions: What does it mean to be ill in this part of the world and what do patients' life-worlds look like? In order to find answers to these questions, an in-depth fieldwork was carried out through which I was able to study how patients reacted to illness. I followed twenty patients in their search of ease, of which ten were members of Chief Mataga's family, with whom I was staying. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : With pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), genetic testing and selective transfer of embryos is possible. In the future, germ-line gene therapy (GLGT) applied to embryos before implantation, in order to introduce missing genes or replace mutant ones, may be possible. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis is to contribute to the debate about Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), and provide a practical tool for teachers with which they can relate to ethical and moral learning in the ESD context. This aim is based on the ambition to develop an approach that takes its starting point from our practical experience of ethics and morals, inspired by the later works of Ludwig Wittgenstein and the transactional perspective developed by John Dewey. Sammanfattning : In the four papers presented in this dissertation I analyze and discuss various value statements and moral stances, which I regard as unjustifiably harmful for persons with Autism and obstacles for the creation of an Autism-friendly society. In the papers I try to show that the positions underpinning the Autism-phobic moral stances are not warranted and cannot be defended in a good way. LÄS MER
