  1. 1. Shb and Its Homologues: Signaling in T Lymphocytes and Fibroblasts

    Författare :Cecilia Lindholm; Hamid Band; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Shb; T cell receptor; IL-2 receptor; PDGF receptor; cell signaling; adapter proteins; LAT; Vav; PLC-g1; SLP-76; JAK1; JAK3; Jurkat cells; T cells; NK cells; Apoptosis.; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Stimulation of the T cell receptor (TCR) induces tyrosine phosphorylation of numerous intracellular proteins, leading to activation of the interleukin-2 (IL-2) gene in T lymphocytes. Shb is a ubiquitously expressed adapter protein, with the ability to associate with the T cell receptor and several signaling proteins in T cells, including: the TCR ζ-chain, LAT, PLC-γ1, Vav, SLP-76 and Gads. 2. 2. Eosinophil Apoptosis

    Författare :Kristina Seton; Joachim Lundahl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell biology; Apoptosis; Programmed Cell Death; Survival; Eosinophils; Inflammatory Diseases; Resolution of inflammation; Functions; Flow cytometry; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Apoptosis or programmed cell death is crucial for the resolution of inflammation, and phagocytosis of apoptotic cells initiates the release of actively anti-inflammatory responses from the phagocytes. Eosinophils are one of the most potent inflammatory cells in the body and is involved in a number of diseases, most commonly associated with parasitic infections and allergic diseases. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Molecular and Cellular Complexity of Glioma : Highlights on the Double-Edged-Sword of Infiltration Versus Proliferation and the Involvement of T Cells

    Författare :Demet Çağlayan; Bengt Westermark; Maria Ferletta; Ana Martin-Villalba; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glioma; Sox2; Sox21; Snail; Bone morphogenetic protein; Sleeping Beauty; Gliomatosis Cerebri; T lymphocytes; T regulatory lymphocytes; Oncology; Onkologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), the most common and malignant brain tumor, is characterized by high molecular and cellular heterogeneity within and among tumors. Parameters such as invasive growth, infiltration of immune cells and endothelial proliferation contribute in a systemic manner to maintain the malignancy. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Regulation of lymphocyte activation and death

    Författare :Hanna Lindgren; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; N-substituted benzamides; apoptosis; NF-kB; NFAT; T cells; CD40L; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : T lymohocytes (T cells) and B lymphocytes (B cells) are important effector cells of the adaptive immune system. In response to infections, B cells are activated and produce antibodies against specific antigens. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On the role of nitric oxide in bladder cancer and renal cell carcinoma

    Författare :Olof T Jansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :urogenital tract; renal cell; transitional cell; carcinoma; nitric oxide; nitric oxide synthase; cytokines; apoptosis; BCG; cystitis;

    Sammanfattning : The role of nitric oxide (NO) in tumour biology is unclear. There are conflicting reports in the literature whether NO will promote or inhibit tumour growth. The aim of the present thesis was to investigate the role of NO in bladder cancer and renal cell carcinoma. LÄS MER
