  2. 2. The effect of scale on the morphology, mechanics and transmissivity of single rock fractures

    Författare :Nader Fardin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Anisotropy; Aperture; Asperity degradation; Contact area; Finite Element Method FEM ; Flow analysis; Fractals; Fracture morphology; Heterogeneity; Stress-deformation; Surface roughness; Roughness-Length method; Scale dependency; Stationarity; Transm;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the effect of scale on themorphology, mechanics and transmissivity of single rockfractures using both laboratory and in-situ experiments, aswell as numerical simulations. Using a laboratory 3D laserscanner, the surface topography of a large silicon-rubberfracture replica of size 1m x 1m, as well as the topography ofboth surfaces of several high-strength concrete fracturereplicas varying in size from 50mmx50mm to 200mm x 200mm, werescanned. 3. 3. Grouting of Hard Rock with Gelling Liquids, Field and Laboratory Studies of Silica sol

    Författare :Johan Funehag; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aperture; penetration length; gelling liquids; field study; silica sol; colloidal silica; Grouting; propagation; hydraulic test; sand column; rheology; transmissivity;

    Sammanfattning : Recent grouting projects in Sweden have concentrated on the grout itself. The only grout normally used in Sweden is a cement-based one. During the past 10 years, the acceptable flow of water into tunnels has been significantly reduced. The current requirements mean that an average fracture aperture of around 0. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Characterisation of Fractured Rock for Grouting Using Hydrogeological Methods

    Författare :Åsa Fransson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydraulic test; specific capacity; grouting; water pressure test; geological mapping; grout take; aperture; penetration length; transmissivity;

    Sammanfattning : Sealing of tunnels by grouting demands knowledge concerning the fractured rock and the grout, followed by an appropriate choice of strategy and equipment. In this thesis, the characterisation of rock is the main issue and, since it addresses the engineering problem of producing a description for grouting, the properties of grout and the grouting procedure need to be considered. 5. 5. Peak Shear Strength of Rock Joints – Towards a Methodology for Prediction Based on Field Data

    Författare :Francisco Ríos Bayona; Fredrik Johansson; Diego Mas Ivars; Stefan Larsson; José Muralha; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rock joints; peak shear strength; DEM; matedness; aperture; Bergssprickor; skjuvhållfasthet; DEM; sprickans passning; sprickvidd; Jord- och bergmekanik; Soil and Rock Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : The rock joint shear strength at field scale is an important design parameter and remains a challenge for rock mechanics engineers. In Sweden, there exist a large number of concrete dams that are founded on rock masses which in many cases contain sub-horizontal rock joints. LÄS MER
