  1. 21. Structure, function and metabolic stability of antisense RNAs

    Författare :Fredrik Söderbom; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Antisense RNAs usually are small, highly structured, unstable RNAs that control a varietyof different biological processes. They exert their effect by binding to complementarytarget RNAs and thereby inhibit their functions. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Development of immunomodulatory RNA therapeutics for immune disorders

    Författare :Vaishnavi Srinivasan Iyer; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Autoimmune diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) are complex and involve many different cell types. Of these cell types, T cells are thought to be key drivers of the inflammation. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Small Cajal body-associated RNA 2 and RNA-binding protein WRAP53β in DNA repair and Hoyeraal-Hreidarsson syndrome

    Författare :Sofie Bergstrand; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The DNA in our cells can be damaged through many different mechanisms and correct repair of DNA lesions is of utmost importance to ensure genomic integrity and prevent alteration in the genetic code contributing to diseases such as cancer, neurodegenerative disorders and premature aging. Non-coding RNAs were for a long time considered as non-functional transcriptional byproducts. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Molecular dynamics simulations of RNA bulges, loops and base flipping

    Författare :Boel Nyström Macchion; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : RNA molecules have several important functions in a cell. They carry the genetic information from DNA to protein, act as catalysts and regulate gene expression. Both DNA and RNA consist of nucleotides, DNA molecules are mainly double stranded while RNA molecules often have single stranded regions that interrupt the double stranded structure. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Radiolabelled Oligonucleotides for Evaluation of in vivo Hybridisation Utilising PET Methodology

    Författare :Gábor Lendvai; Mats Bergström; Sergio Estrada; Barbro Eriksson; Raymond Josephsson; Bertrand Tavitian; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Molecular medicine; Gene expression; Antisense oligonucleotides; Positron emission tomography; In vivo hybridisation; In vivo biodistribution; Chromogranin-A; 68Ga; RT-PCR; Scavenger receptors; Molekylärmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Antisense oligonucleotides (ODN) may interfere in gene expression on the basis of hybridising to its complementary messenger RNA (mRNA) sequence in the cell thereby preventing the synthesis of the peptide. Therefore, these ODNs may be potential drugs to treat human diseases by “knocking down” the expression of responsible genes or correcting the maturation process of mRNA in the field called antisense therapy.
