16. Transcription Factor AP-2 in Relation to Personality and Antidepressant Drugs
Sammanfattning : The CNS monoaminergic systems are considered as the head engine regulating neuropsychiatric functions and personality. Transcription factor AP-2 is known to be essential for the development of the brainstem including the monoaminergic nuclei, and has the ability to regulate many genes in the monoaminergic systems. 17. Transcription Factor AP-2 in Relation to Serotonergic Functions in the Central Nervous System
Sammanfattning : Eukaryotic gene transcription plays a regulatory role in mammalian developmental processes. It has been shown that transcriptional control is an important mechanism for specification of neurotransmitter phenotypes. LÄS MER
18. Impact of Lifestyle, Hormones, and Genes on Breast Cancer
Sammanfattning : Approximately 7000 women are diagnosed and 1500 women die from breast cancer in Sweden every year. The aim of this thesis was to study the interplay of polymorphisms, hormone levels, lifestyle, and the use of concomitant medication in relation to risk and prognosis in two cohorts: one composed of young healthy women from high-risk breast cancer families and the other of breast cancer patients from the general population. Sammanfattning : Obesity and depression are known to often go hand in hand, but is this due to our genetic heritage, environmental factors or a combination thereof? With a neuroscientific approach, I have investigated the relationship between obesity and depression with the aim of bridging the different levels of research available in order to better understand this complex topic. Using data from a longitudinal cohort with adults, we analysed the genetic contribution to antidepressant response in Study I. LÄS MER
