  1. 1. On the role of transversus abdominis in trunk motor control

    Författare :Martin Eriksson Crommert; Peter Engfeldt; Alf Thorstensson; Maria Ekblom; Birgitta Öberg; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :transversus abdominis; trunk muscles; EMG; intramuscular; IAP; motor control; postural control; spine stability; postural demand; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : All trunk muscles are important contributors to spine stability. However, the deepest abdominal muscle, transversus abdominis (TrA), with its characteristically horizontal fibre orientation seems to serve a unique function in trunk motor control. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Muscle Responses of Car Occupants: Numerical Modeling and Volunteer Experiments under Pre-Crash Braking Conditions

    Författare :Jonas Östh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; feedback postural control; autonomous braking; electromyography; active muscle; anticipatory postural control; seat belt pre-tension; driver braking; human body model; finite element; occupant kinematics;

    Sammanfattning : Over 30 000 fatalities related to the road transport system are reported anually in Europe. Of these fatalities, the largest share is car occupants, even though significant improvements in vehicle safety have been achieved by the implementation of in-crash restraints and pre-crash driver support systems. 3. 3. Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder : alterations of motor behaviour and dopaminergic transmission

    Författare :Aurelija Jucaite; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :AD HD; DCD; neurodevelopmental disorder; PET; dopamine transporter; dopamine D2 receptors; raclopride; striatum; midbrain; anticipatory postural adjustments;

    Sammanfattning : Altered catecholaminergic neurotransmission in the brain has long been thought to be of importance in the regulation of motor behavior and cognitive performance in children who had symptoms of distractability, impulsivity and clumsiness. The dopamine theory of AD/HD has mainly been substantiated by: i) the effects of psychostimulants, which target the dopamine transporter (DAT), and thereby reduce impulsiveness and inattentiveness, increase the striatal cerebral blood flow and functional activity, and ii) the evidence from linkage studies associating the AD/HD syndrome with allelic variations of genes encoding the dopamine transporter and, possibly, the dopamine D4 receptors. 4. 4. Dynamic ankle-foot orthoses in children with spastic diplegia : interview and experimental studies

    Författare :Annika Näslund; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Sjukgymnastik; Physiotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : Dynamic ankle-foot orthosis (DAFO) is a thin supra malleolar orthosis used as a compliment to the total treatment program in children with cerebral palsy (CP) in order to facilitate function in sitting, standing and walking. The DAFO keeps the foot in a functional position and is said to provide the child with proprioceptive feedback for balance- and postural control. LÄS MER
