11. Making Visible the Proximity Between Proteins
Sammanfattning : Genomic DNA is the template of life - the entity which is characterized by a self-sustaining anatomical development, regulated signaling processes, the ability to reproduce and to respond to stimuli. Through what is classically known as the central dogma, the genome is transcribed into mRNA, which in turn is translated into proteins. LÄS MER
12. Advances and Applications of Antibody Arrays - Proteomic Profiling of Pancreatic Disease
Sammanfattning : Recombinant antibody microarrays have advanced into indispensable tools for large-scale, high-throughput multiplexed serum proteomics. This thesis, based upon five original papers, deals with the development of an in-house designed antibody microarray platform, and its applications for serum profiling of pancreatic disease. LÄS MER
13. Design of antibody microarrays for global profiling of membrane proteins and soluble proteins
Sammanfattning : Antibody-based microarrays have emerged as an established proteomic technology allowing multiplexed and sensitive profiling of complex proteomes, in a high-throughput and miniaturized manner. Recently, numerous applicative efforts have been pursued generating disease-associated protein signatures that now could be further explored for improved disease diagnostics, prognostics and classification. 14. Lactobacilli expressing antibody fragments against pathogens
Sammanfattning : Adherence to mucosal surfaces has been shown to be of great importance in the pathogenesis of various infections in the gastro-intestinal tract. Live recombinant bacteria can be used to deliver active or passive immunity at the mucosal surface, which is the site of entry for the majority of the pathogens. LÄS MER
15. Antibody-based Profiling of Expression Patterns using Cell and Tissue Microarrays
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, methods to study gene and protein expression in cells and tissues were developed and utilized in combination with protein-specific antibodies, with the overall objective to attain greater understanding of protein function. To analyze protein expression in in vitro cultured cell lines, a cell microarray (CMA) was developed, facilitating antibody-based protein profiling of cell lines using immunohistochemistry (IHC).
