  1. 1. Regulation of DNA damage responses by the Myc oncogene : implications for future anti-cancer therapies

    Författare :Andreas Höglund; Jonas Nilsson; Thomas Helleday; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Myc; DNA damage; Decitabine; Chk1; Chk2; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Myc is a transcription factor frequently found deregulated in human cancer. Cells with deregulated expression of Myc carry a selective advantage against its neighbours due to the fact that Myc-mediated transcription governs crucial cellular events such as proliferation and growth. 2. 2. Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Anti-Cancer Regimens : Emphasis on Busulphan and the Combination Therapies Epirubicin-Docetaxel and Fluorouracil-Epirubicin-Cyclophosphamide

    Författare :Marie Sandström; Alison H Thomson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biosciences; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; Pharmacognosy; farmakognosi;

    Sammanfattning : Although the main reason for the lack of distinct dose-response and -toxicity relationships for anti-cancer agents is due to variability in pharmacodynamics, variability in pharmacokinetics may also contribute. Hence, not only describing and quantifying the relationship between pharmacokinetics and dose-limiting toxicities, but characterising the pharmacokinetics and its associated variability are of obvious importance in the process of developing dosing strategies for anti-cancer regimens. 3. 3. Autophagy and VPS34 as targets in anti-cancer therapy

    Författare :Yasmin Désirée Yu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Autophagy (Greek for self-eating) is a cellular pathway that breaks down cytoplasmic components to fuel metabolism. In this way, autophagy maintains cellular homeostasis and sustains survival during stress conditions. In cancer, autophagy is often dysregulated and has been described to contribute to malignancy and therapy resistance. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Elucidation of the molecular mechanisms of action of anti-cancer compounds reveals possible combination strategies for anti-cancer therapy

    Författare :Xiaolei Zhou; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer develops due to accumulation of mutations or epigenetic changes within normal cells, usually over a considerable period of time. When cancer patients are diagnosed at late stage, the tumor cells are often more heterogenous and aggressive, which results in tumor resistance to anti-cancer therapies and therefore can be lethal. 5. 5. Computer-aided drug design approaches in developing anti-cancer inhibitors

    Författare :Chunxia Gao; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis entitled “computer-aided drug design approaches in developing anti-cancer drug” is divided into a total of six chapters. In the first chapter, an overview of drug discovery and development are introduced. LÄS MER
