  1. 1. Political conflicts - Dissent and antagonism among political parties in local government

    Författare :Louise Skoog; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; democracy; political conflict; party conflict; political dissent; antagonistic behaviour; multi-methods; local government; local politics; political parties; causes of conflict; effects of conflicts;

    Sammanfattning : Political conflicts arise out of, or are at least nourished by, divisions and tensions in society over how resources are distributed between citizens and social groups. In the parliamentary arena, these conflicts are manifested by political parties representing the interests of their voters. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Modelling driver steering and neuromuscular behaviour

    Författare :Ola Benderius; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; reaching; neuromuscular behaviours; lateral control; driver models; Driver behaviours; active safety; autonomous vehicles;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis challenges the traditional view of treating steering behaviour as a tracking task, instead treating it as a reaching task. Here, reaching refers to a fundamental human behaviour with the the intriguing characteristic of having a linear relationship between maximum speed and distance, effectively making the movement time constant. 3. 3. Managing the risk for antagonistic threats against the transport network

    Författare :Daniel Ekwall; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; supply chain management; supply chain security; risk management; transport networks; crime prevention; Kvalitetsdriven logistik;

    Sammanfattning : The World Trade Centre terror attack in 2001 changed the world and with it the conditions for logistics worldwide. The aftermath of the attack brought needed attention to the vulnerability of modern supply chains. This thesis addresses the antagonistic threats that exploit the vulnerability in a supply chain. 4. 4. Plant-animal interactions and seed output of two insectpollinated herbs

    Författare :Anna R. Waites; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plant reproduction; pollen limitation; pollinator behaviour; heterostyly; seed predation; Lythrum salicaria; Pedicularis palustris; stigma receptivity; self-pollen; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : I combined comparative and experimental studies in the field and in the greenhouse to examine factors influencing reproductive success in two insect-pollinated herbs, the tristylous, selfincompatible perennial Lythrum salicaria and the self-compatible, biennial Pedicularis palustris. More specifically, I explored (i) the effects of plant population characteristics on the intensity and outcome of interactions with pollinators and seed predators, (ii) whether flower morphology affects duration of stigma receptivity, and (iii) whether damage-induced reduction in floral display reduces pollinator visitation and increases pollen limitation. 5. 5. Mating strategies and sexual conflicts in aquatic invertebrates: consequences for evolutionary differentiation

    Författare :Kristina Karlsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Asellus aquaticus; Dytiscidae; gender bias; genetic polymorphism; mate guarding; parallel evolution; plasticity; population divergence; sexual conflict; sexually antagonistic selection; sexual selection;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis I investigated how mating related strategies may differ among populations and how these strategies evolve in response to their local ecological environments. I have used two different study systems of aquatic invertebrates: diving beetles (Dytiscidae) and the fresh water isopod Asellus aquaticus. LÄS MER
