1. Fetal Anomalies : Surveillance and Diagnostic Accuracy of Ultrasound and Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Sammanfattning : The aims were to investigate the accuracy of ultrasound in diagnosis of structural fetal anomalies with special focus on false positive findings (I), to evaluate the additional value of second trimester fetal MRI on pregnancy management (II-III) and to estimate the ascertainment in the Swedish Birth Defects Registry and incidence of spina bifida and cleft lip/palate (IV). Retrospectively, 328 fetal autopsies were identified where pregnancies were terminated due to ultrasonographically diagnosed fetal anomalies. LÄS MER
2. Solar Wind Proton Interactions with Lunar Magnetic Anomalies and Regolith
Sammanfattning : The lunar space environment is shaped by the interaction between the Moon and the solar wind. In the present thesis, we investigate two aspects of this interaction, namely the interaction between solar wind protons and lunar crustal magnetic anomalies, and the interaction between solar wind protons and lunar regolith. 3. Abelian Extensions, Fractional Loop Group and Quantum Fields
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the theory of Lie group extensions, Lie conformal algebras and twisted K-theory, in the context of quantum physics. These structures allow for a mathematically precise description of certain aspects of interacting quantum field theories. LÄS MER
4. Ultrasound screening for fetal anomalies
Sammanfattning : We studied the prenatal detection rate of various malformations during a study period of 16 years in a population in southern Sweden consisting of 141 240 deliveries. The overall detection rate was 28.4% and the false positive diagnoses were very few. LÄS MER
5. Evolutionary ecology of ultraviolet-B radiation stress tolerance in amphibians
Sammanfattning : During the last decades many amphibian species and populations have experienced declines and extinctions in different parts of the world. Anthropogenic activities are believed to account for these declines, and one of the hypothesized causes has been the increased level of ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation due to depletion of the stratospheric ozone layer.
