  1. 1. Strävan efter ett ordnat samhälle : stadsplanering i Huddinge 1900-1960

    Författare :Anna Micro Vikstrand; Thomas Hall; Claes Caldenby; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Huddinge; Urban planning; Planning legislation; Suburb; Rural township municipalsamhälle ; Rental housing; Täby; Sollentuna; Huddinge; Stadsplanering; Stadsplanelagstiftning; Förort; Municipalsamhälle; Flerfamiljshusbebyggelse; Täby; Sollentuna; Architecture; Arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : Suburbs sprang up round about many Swedish towns and cities in and around 1900. For obvious reasons, they were most numerous round about the City of Stockholm. This thesis sets out to map and discuss urban planning in the suburban Stockholm municipalities between 1900 and 1960. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Accuracy, efficiency and robustness for rigid particle simulations in Stokes flow

    Författare :Anna Broms; Anna-Karin Tornberg; Mattias Sandberg; Eric Keaveny; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Stokes flow; rigid particles; accuracy; fundamental solutions; method of images; multiblob; contact avoiding; complementarity problem; barrier method; elliptic PDE; grid optimisation; pair-correction; boundary integral equations; Stokesflöde; noggrannhet; stela partiklar; fundamentallösningar; randintegralekvation; reflektionspunkter; multiblob; kontaktundvikande algoritmer; komplementaritetsproblem; barriärmetod; elliptisk PDE; gridoptimering; parkorrektion; Numerical Analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis concerns simulation techniques for systems of nano- to micro-scaled rigid particles immersed in a viscous fluid, ubiquitous in nature and industry. With negligible fluid inertia, the set of PDEs known as the Stokes equations can be used to model the hydrodynamics. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Understanding in Real-Time Communication : Micro-Feedback and Meaning Repair in Face-to-Face and Video-Mediated Intercultural Interactions

    Författare :Anna Jia Gander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Communication; understanding; micro-feedback; meaning repair; intercultural communication; face-to-face FTF ; video-mediated communication VMC ; multimodal communi-cation; activity type; relevance; contextualisation; inference; information sharing; sense-making;

    Sammanfattning : Human communication is profoundly social. In social activities, it is not uncommon that people are understood in many different ways, which may have various consequences for social and interpersonal communication. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Gene expression in the dorsal root ganglion and the role of PAI-1 and amphiregulin during regeneration

    Författare :Anna Nilsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; Djurfysiologi; Animal physiology; DRG; micro-array; peripheral nerve regeneration; mouse;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with two aspects of peripheral nerve injury. First the early changes in the gene expression of the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) in response to sciatic nerve injury as revealed by micro-array analysis. Second an examination of the effect of PAI-1 and amphiregulin on survival and axonal outgrowth from DRG. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The role of microstructure for crack propagation in cortical bone

    Författare :Anna Gustafsson; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Crack deflection; Interface; Mechanical testing; Micro-CT; Osteon; Porosity; XFEM;

    Sammanfattning : Healthy cortical bone tissue is both tough and strong and has a unique ability to resist fracture. One reason is the hierarchical structure of the tissue where toughening mechanisms at all length scales act to slow down or stop a propagating crack. LÄS MER
